Dunnes Bar Division 2: Our senior lads had a 0-13 to 0-09 win over Glencar/Manor in The Park on Sunday to make it a happy return to home soil. Thank you to all who came out to support and we will need similar turnouts to help in the push for promotion.
Leitrim’s Health Is Wealth – A massive crowd attended The Bush Hotel last Wednesday for Leitrim’s Health Is Wealth where some very important issues were highlighted and discussed. Thank you to all who supported this event and our own Health and Well Being Officer Hubert McHugh.
Westlink Coaches Under 15 – Our U15 lads had a hard fought 5 point win over Melvin Gaels in Kinlough on Tuesday on a scoreline of 4-08 to 1-12 to maintain their unbeaten record and continue to sit proudly at the top of the table. Thanks to all the parents and players who travelled to Manorhamilton on Sunday for the first u11 blitz. Good effort against a strong Glencar Manorhamilton side.
Kellogg’s Cúl Camp – This year’s Cul Camp takes place in Dromahair from Monday 16th to Friday 20th July. Places can be booked on kelloggsculcamps.gaa,ie
Scoreathon – On Saturday 26th May at 2pm in The Park we will be holding a Scoreathon where collectively all age groups will be aiming to score more than was scored in the entire All Ireland Football Championship last year. Sponsorship cards have been distributed and we ask people to please support the boys selling lines. Sponsorship amount is optional. We ask that all taking part please be in The Park at 1.30pm.
Club Meeting – Our next club meeting takes place next Sunday 27th May at 8pm in The Pavillion. We ask that at least one coach from each age group attend if possible.

Dunnes Bar Division 1 – As our nine best players were unavailable due to County participation the Club could not field a competitive Div1 team and unfortunately had to concede to Ballinamore SOH on Saturday evening last.

Dunnes Bar Division 2 – The Div 2 team played on Sunday morning and were narrowly beaten by Ballinamore. The panel and scorers was, C Baxter, S Harkin, J McGarry, K Reilly, D Mitchell, R Murphy 0-1, P O Neill, J Reynolds, S Flynn, J Boyle, S McGowan, E Harkin 0-1, J Farrell, F McGuinness 0-3, E Harkin, J Reynolds o-2, S Kennedy 0-2. We wish a speedy recovery to David Mitchell and Stephen Flynn who picked up knee injuries. Bon voyage to Shane McGowan who flew off to the USA on Monday last for the summer.

Westlink Coaches Under 15 – These young men are winning all their games and the last outing was against Allen Gaels on Monday last. They are assured of a place in the playoffs.

Lotto Results – There was no Jackpot winner the numbers drawn were 1-2-28-30. Lucky Dip winners were, €70 Anne Keville Annaduff, €40 Sean Kilrane Mohill, €20 Adam McGuinness Mohill. Mohill Ladies – The Ladies had a good win over Drumkeerin on Sunday. Claire Beirne will head off to the USA this week and Aileen Flynn goes to South America both great footballers and they will be sorely missed

Ladies Div 2 Champions Oughteragh Gaels – Congratulations to Oughteragh Gaels on their fantastic win over St Francis in the Division 2 league final on Saturday in Leitrim Village. The girls finished well ahead with a lead of 2 goals at the final whistle, final score 3:9 to 1:9.  Great success for the team who have worked hard all year.  Thanks to Rory O Rourke and team for their work with the girls, we wish the team every success in Division 1 next year.  Roll on the championship girls!

Dunnes Bar Div 1 Result – our senior lads played Ballinamore Sean O hEslins on Saturday evening in Ballinamore.  It was a very hard fought battle and the loss of Ciaran Cullen, Fintan Fitzpatrick and Fergal Earley through injuries was a huge blow for us, but nevertheless, the lads played their hearts out and never gave up.  Final score Ballinamore 1-14 Aughnasheelin 0-12.  We wish Ciaran a speedy recovery from his collarbone injury.

New York trip – most of our travellers have returned at this stage and a great time had by all, by all accounts. Well done to Leitrim on their win and best of luck to them on Saturday week against Roscommon.Golf Classic –Fundraising golf classic takes place on Saturday 26th May at Ballinamore Golf Club. Tee times available from Peter Flynn Colin Moran or Eamon Bennison 086-3124137, 087-6774137. West Link Coaches Under 15 St Brigid’s – Well done to our under 15 team who are doing really well in the league and now are joint top of the table with Dromahair. Next game for them is Thurs evening in Kiltubrid at 7.30 pls come along and support them. Following game is a home game against Melvin Gaels on Monday 21st 7.30pm

August Bank Holiday weekend event – the club intends to hold a few events over the bank holiday weekend in  August, so just a note to keep the weekend free and if you have any family abroad maybe you could let them know.

Sympathy – Our sincere sympathy to Kellie Mahon and the Gill family on the sad passing of Kellie’s dad William Gill over the weekend.  May he rest in peace.

Dunnes Bar Div 1 – The Div 1 team lost their unbeaten record on Saturday evening when Fenagh deservedly won out in a sporting encounter. Next weekend they play Ballinamore in Páirc Philib and hopefully, there will be a full squad available on the evening

Dunnes Bar Div 2 – These men and boys played well on Sunday morning but Annaduff’s first team had the edge, in the end, the scorers were Jordan Reynolds 0-6, Ronan Gordon, Stephen Flynn, Johnny Boyle and Peter ONeill 0-1 each. Ronan Gordon picked up a leg injury during the game and we sincerely thank Annaduff’s physio for her attention to him.

Westlink Coaches Under 15 – This age group are doing very well in the League campaign and their latest win was against a very strong Manor team with a scoreline of 3-11 to 0-14. Their next game is in Mohill on Thursday at 7.30 with Gortletteragh the opposition.

Dunnes Bar Division 2 – The Senior team played their third league game on Saturday last when Kiltubrid were the visitors to sunny Dromod. Bornacoola played a strong first half and were in control for most of the first 30 minutes and led by five points at halftime. In the second half, Kiltubrid cut the gap to just two points midway through, and it looked like a tight finish was in store. However, a Sean McKeon goal and some unanswered points ensured it was the home team who would take the spoils on a 1-15 to 0-11 scoreline. Team on duty was Conor Hackett, Kevin Mulligan, Jason Conroy, Brian Duffy, Liam Mulligan (0-1), Conor Mc Cauley  David Mulligan (0-1), Alan Croghan (0-1), Colm Farrell, , Cian Mallon, Damien Moran (0-5) , Ronan Mulligan (0-1) , Ollie Vaughan (0-4) Gary McCloskey,  Sean McKeon (1-02) . Subs used were: Michael Duignan, Brian Conroy, Daniel Farrell, Roy Keenan and Gearoid Mulligan. This Saturday we are fixed to play in Carrigallen at 7pm in a Division 2 league round without county players.

Westlink Coaches Under Under 15 – Well done to our under 15 players playing with Mohill, who on Monday evening last continued on their winning ways by defeating Leitrim Gaels comprehensively. They were in action again on Friday evening when they turned in another superb performance when defeating Glencar Manor Hamilton 3 11 to 0 14. Congrats to our players that were involved.

Golf Classic – We will be holding our golf Classic in Ballinamore Golf club on Saturday, June 3rd. The prizes are as follows, 1st prize € 400 plus green fees for Slieve Russel Golf club.2nd prize € 300 plus green fees for Longford Golf Club. 3rd prize €200 plus green fees for Carrick on Shannon Golf club, 4th Prize Golf Polo shirts, 5th Prize box of Golf Balls and gloves, 6th prize Golf umbrellas. 7th prize Green fees for Carrick on Shannon Golf club. There will also be the nearest the pin and the longest drive competitions with four € 50 vouchers as prizes. There will be light refreshments before tee off, a snack bag available for each player and a sit down hot meal for each player having finished their round. The prize giving ceremony will take place at 7 30 in the Club House. Dunnes Bar Div 2 – We were defeated by St Patricks Drumahair in the Dunnes Bar Div 2 league on Saturday evening last on a score line of Drumahair 0-13 Cloone 0-08

Race night – We would like to say a sincere thank you to everyone who contributed in any way in making our recent race night a successful one. Thank you to all the sponsors, to everyone who bought and sold tickets and those who helped out in any way on the night. Your help and support is greatly appreciated. Thanks also to the Melrose Inn.

Ladies – Hard luck to St. Francis ladies who lost out to Oughteragh Gaels by 3.9 to 1.9 in the div 2 league final last Saturday evening. The ladies put in a hard-working performance and led by one point at the break. Unfortunately, they were unable to get the scores they needed in the second half to claw back the concession of two second-half goals. They left everything on the pitch and tried their best till the very end. We wish them the best of luck as they dust themselves down and prepare for the championship. Well done to Oughteragh Gaels on their victory. A big thank you to everyone who came and supported the girls. Thanks also to Scollans Gala for the lovely meal after the game.

Dunnes Bar Seniors – Hard luck to the senior team as they lost out to Melvin Gaels on Saturday evening. The lads are training hard and we’ve no doubt a win in division 1 will come soon for them. Keep up the hard work. Best of luck on Sunday as they play St. Mary’s in Ballinaglera at 12 o clock.

Condolences – The club would like to extend our sincere sympathy to Susan Gilmartin and her family of Stranagarvana on the recent death of her sister Josie Niland who died recently in London. May she rest in peace.

St. Francis Ladies – The ladies just came up short in the league final losing out to Oughteragh Gaels on a scoreline of 3-09 to 1-09. Despite leading 1-07 to 1-06 at half-time we couldn’t sustain it in the second half. Dunnes Bar Division 2 – We had a good win over Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins second string on Sunday morning in the park. We led 2-04 to 0-02 at the break with Caleb Duffy & Thomas Mulvey finding the net and ran out convincing winners in the second half with further goals from Caleb, Dylan McGowan & Ciaran Walsh. Then scorers were: Caleb Duffy 2-00; Thomas Mulvey 1-02; Ciaran Walsh 1-01; Dylan McGowan 1-01; Nicholas Moore 0-03; James Flynn 0-02; Niall Sorohan 0-01; Shane Walsh 0-01. We play Kiltubrid away this Saturday evening so best of luck to the team & management.

Westlink Coaches U-15 Boys – The boys have had a good run over the last 10 days or so with a big win over St. Josephs followed by a high scoring draw with St. Marys and good wins over Sean O’Heslins & Gortletteragh last week. We play Glencar Manorhamilton at home on Thursday evening and travel to Mohill for the final round next Monday. Best of luck to Angus, Farrell and the squad.

Underage Coaching – The Saturday morning sessions continue in the park on Saturday mornings at 10am for boys U-7 to U-11 & girls U-7 to U-12.

Volleyball – Congratulations to Drumshanbo Vocational School on winning another All Ireland the week before last to complete a clean sweep of national titles in what is a great achievement for the school and pupils.

Sympathy – The Club extends deepest condolences to the Broderick Family, Inch East, Listowel and the Kelly Family, Creagh on the very sad passing of Helen’s mother, Margaret Mary Broderick, who was laid to rest in Listowel last week. Sincere sympathy also to the Mulvey Family, Drumcroman on the sad passing of Francis (Sonny) Mulvey who was laid to rest in Drumshanbo on Monday of last week.

Annual Underage Table Quiz – We are holding our Annual table quiz on Friday the 18th May. All proceeds go towards running of our underage teams for the year. The event gets underway with first-round starring at 9pm.
Tables of 4 are €40 and Junior tables of 4 are €20. Prizes for both categories and raffle on the night also. Always a good nights craic not to be missed so grab a few friends and come along.
Weekend Results – Not an ideal weekend on the pitch this weekend as both the Seniors and Juniors suffered losses to Glencar Manor and Fenagh respectively, both teams being down players due to injury and absence.
Weekend Fixtures – The Seniors travel to Leitrim Village to take on Leitrim Gaels this Sunday @ 12 noon. Best of luck lads.
Westlink Coaches Under 15 – Our U15’s had a good win over St Joseph’s at home last Monday score 5- 13 to 2-08. We played Allen Gaels on Thursday. Allen Gaels were a much stronger team and won well on a scoreline of 5-16 to 0-6. Next up is Leitrim Gaels and then Manorhamilton both games away. Check fixtures for dates and times.
Under 9 – Our U9s are due to play Garadice Gaels Tuesday evening at home at 6:30. That will be our fifth outing in as many weeks. Well done to all the coaches the last few weeks for their work with this group.
Under 11 –This group start their games next Monday. No fixtures confirmed yet.

Lotto – There was no winner of the Lotto draw last Saturday night.  The numbers drawn were 2-6-4-3-7-0-1-5.  €30 winners on the night were Michael Moran Aughalough, Tess O’Connell, Michael McKiernan Drumshanbo North, Michael Mulligan and Frank Shanley.  The house prize sponsored by The Dugout was won by Leonie McKiernan.  Next draw will take place on Saturday 26th May with Dan & Noel’s team.  Lotto Jackpot is €10,900.  Envelopes €2 or three for €5.

Swan Bar Division 3 – Well done to our Div 3 Team who beat Drumkeerin in the park on Sunday last.  Aughavas 1-13 to Drumkeerin 1-12.  Our next game is away to Glenfarne on Saturday 26th at 7pm.

New York Fundraiser –  A special thanks to the New York Fundraiser Committee who did a great job in organising this fundraising draw for Aughavas GAA Club and St Joseph’s Ladies which took place on the night of Sunday 6th May in Behan’s bar on Katonah Avenue hosted by John Creegan.  A great night was had by all. Congratulations to the winners Carmel Redican, Teresa Donohoe and Derek Shields. Congratulations also to Terry Williams who had a win on the American Lotto.

2018 Kellogg’s Cúl Camps in Leitrim

Aughavas Kellogg’s Cul Camps will take place from Monday 16th July to Friday 20th July. Registration for Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps 2018 is currently underway online via the website, https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/booking/ Please note: The online booking facility will close at noon on the Wednesday preceding the week of the camps. Please be aware that Registrations will NOT be accepted on the first morning of camp. The only method of registration will be via the online link.

Dublin – Aughawillan Sponsored Cycle – Last Saturday, our 20 cyclists plus support team travelled from Castleknock to Aughawillan, 150km in total to raise funds to develop and upgrade the playing surface of the main pitch. This 8.5 hour journey took them through Dunshaughlin, Navan, Kells, Virginia, Cavan, Killeshandra, Newtowngore and Ballinamore, before arriving back to Aughawillan GAA club, where they were greeted by a large crowd of family, friends & supporters to congratulate them. A massive thank you to all those who were at the field to welcome the cyclists back to Aughawillan, the supporters who came out along the way to encourage the cyclists and everyone who sent them off in style in Castleknock that morning. A mention also to the support team who travelled with the cyclists – Gene and Eugene Maguire who led the crew along the way, the medic Marie Quinn, the mechanic Christy Creamer and Ciaran McTague who was also on hand, Charlie, AnnaMay and Niamh Kelly who were at the stops along the route to provide snacks and water for the cyclists and Donal Quinn & Gallogy Catering who were at Aughawillan pitch to provide refreshments after the cycle. The cyclists along with family & friends gathered in Jackies’ bar later that evening to celebrate their achievement and have a few well-earned refreshments!
