Dunnes Bar Division 1 – Well done to our senior team on their victory over St. Mary’s in division 1 on Sunday morning. It was great to see the hard work paying off for the lads and the management team. They played with great heart and determination throughout the game. With the same work rate and attitude, we can look forward to more victories in the coming weeks. Keep up the good work. On a side note there are two club jerseys missing since Sunday, please check your bags and return them.

Speedy recovery – We wish John Flynn a speedy recovery from a recent injury. John is always a great help to the club when needed to record games. His selfless commitment and time are much appreciated and we hope he is back on his feet very soon.

Leitrim v Roscommon – This Championship decider is taking place in Pairc Sean on Saturday evening 26th, with throw-in at 5:30pm. This is sure to be a sellout event and we would like to wish all involved with the Leitrim team the very best of luck.

St. Joseph’s Boys – Westlink Coaches – U15’s have finished all their league games and are playing a Shield semi-final on Thursday evening.

U12’S – Our U12 team took part in a tournament in Colmcille at the weekend, it was a good workout for them in preparation for the Longford/Leitrim league which starts on Thursday 31st May.  Thanks to Colmcille club for their hospitality on the day.

Greenway Walk – A huge thank you to all those who supported our walk on May Bank Holiday weekend. We raised €645 and £5sterling. This money raised goes towards the running of the club.

Underage Academy – A huge well done to our U11s and U9s who played against Drumkeerin on Monday evening in Drumkeerin. There was some great football played by both teams and the future looks bright for these footballers. Training continues on Friday evening in the park at 6:30pm for U7s, U9s and U11s. Westlink Coaches Under 15 League – The under 15 team played their final league game on Monday evening showing true spirit they saw off a strong Sean O Heslin side by 1 point 4-14 to 3-16. The result sees them qualify for the shield.

Connacht SFC Leitrim v Roscommon – Good Luck to the Leitrim team when they take on Roscommon in Pairc Sean on Saturday next. The Club wishes special good luck to Gaels lads Emlyn, Darragh and Cillian.

Dunnes Bar League Game v Aughnasheelin – On Sunday the Senior team had a good win over Aughnasheelin in Melvin Park. Playing without the County players, the Gaels had to dig deep to secure a valuable two points in this game. They got off to a great start and had a five-point lead after the first ten minutes. Aughnasheelin fought back and went into the break leading by two points. In the second half, the Gaels took some good scores and ended up winning on a scoreline of Melvin Gaels 2-10, Aughnasheelin 2-8. Well done to all the players and mentors.

Game at Weekend – The Junior team travel to Cloone for Division 2 League game at 12 noon on Sunday. Good luck to all.

Make Your Mark on the Park Development Fundraising – The work of the Community Development Project will be starting very soon. Melvin Gaels Club is assisting with the fundraising which has started. All Club members, ex-club members, players and ex-players are asked to help in the fundraising which will involve “Make Your Mark on Melvin Park” for €100 which will represent a square of Melvin Park, entry into a draw, prizes 5x €1000, your name on a commemorative plaque. Dunnes Bar Division 2 – We had 5 points to spare over Kiltubrid on Saturday evening played in Kiltubrid on a scoreline of 2-09 to 1-07. Two early points from play from Nicholas Moore settled us down before James Gill pointed a free for the home side on 9 minutes. Caleb Duffy found the net on 14 minutes with a great finish, quickly followed by another point from play from Nicholas and a second goal in the 18th minute from James Flynn after a good team move left us in control. Emmet Mahon & James Gill pointed frees for Kiltubrid in the 25th & 28th minutes before a soft penalty call brought the home side back into contention as Keelan McKeon finished to the bottom corner. Nicholas added a free in injury time to leave the score at the break 2-04 to 1-03. James Flynn from play & another free from Nicholas Moore extended the lead in the opening 5 minutes of the second period. James Gill pointed a free in the 36th minute before Ciaran Walsh & Nicholas both found the range from play to leave 7 points between the sides entering the final quarter.  Mickey Earley struck Kiltubrid’s only score from play in the 47th minute and James Flynn replied immediately after great work by Martin Raftery. Emmet Mahon & James Gill added 2 frees in the closing minutes to leave the final score 2-09 to 1-07. Well done to Michael McGovern who performed well in goals on the night. Our scorers were:  Nicholas Moore 0-06; James Flynn 1-02; Caleb Duffy 1-00; Ciaran Walsh 0-01.

Westlink Coaches U-15 Boys – The boys continued their good form with a 3-21 to 1-11 win over Glencar Manorhamilton in Ballinaglera on Thursday evening. We play Mohill in the final round this week and the semi finals will probably be played on Thursday evening. Best of luck to Angus, Farrell and the squad.

Kellogg’s Cul Camps – Please note that the summer coaching camp takes place in Drumshanbo from July 9th– 13th. Booking should be made online on the Leitrim GAA website.

Sympathy – Our club members extend heartfelt sympathy to the family of the late Orla Parkinson, Gortnalibbert, Manorhamilton.  Orla was a regular attendee of games involving her children down through the years and her jovial nature and smile endeared her to many.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband Scott, children Oisin, Nuala and Olivia and extended family and many friends.  May She Rest in Peace.

Dunnes Bar Division 1 & 2 League – Our Seniors recorded an away win over Fenagh on Saturday evening – a game played without county players (2-22 0-10).  Well done to the team.  Unfortunately, on Division 2 team lost by 4 points to Dromahair in an away fixture on Sunday morning (0-13 to 0-9).

U11 Blitz – Our U11’s play their 2nd Blitz on next Monday (28th of May) at 7.30 away to St Mary’s.

Club Academy – Our Club Academy for U7s, U9s and U11’s continues on Friday nights.  Venue is weather dependent and will be notified to parents and posted on our Facebook page.  €2 each or €5 max per family.  New players are joining every week so feel free to bring your children along to join in the fun and games.

First Holy Communion – We wish all the boys and girls who are due to make their First Holy Communion a Happy and Holy day of celebration with their families and friends.

Senior Ladies – Our Division 2 Ladies side finished their 2018 league campaign with a win at home to Fenagh on Sunday morning last. The girls were comfortable winners on the day. Senior Ladies competitive action now takes a short break for the Leaving Cert exams and will resume in July.

U8/U10 Girls – Coaching sessions in basic Gaelic football skills will be given in a safe and fun environment starting on Wednesday 30th May at 6pm in the Bee Park Manorhamilton.  All girls in this age group are welcome to come along.  Our three coaches are Grainne Rooney, Fidelma Loughlin and Dermot McMorrow and any questions can be directed to Dermot on 086 1768533.

U12 Girls – Training takes place every Saturday morning at 9am at St Clares NS Astro.  Contact Brendan McLaughlin for further information.

U14 Girls – Hard luck to our U14 girls and mentors and congrats to St Mary’s who captured the U14 County title on Friday evening last. In what was an exciting game right to the final whistle the girls worked extremely hard throughout. It’s onwards and upwards for the side who have already qualified for Féile 2018 in Newry, Co Down.

U16/Minor Girls – Training for this group of players has commenced every Saturday morning in the Bee Park at 9am.  Contact Tommy Gallagher or Martin Johnston for further details.

Swan Bar Division 2 – The Senior team made it two wins on the bounce when they travelled to Carrigallen and delivered an excellent performance on Saturday evening to record a 2-14 to 0-8 victory. Carrigallen played with the wind in the first half, but failed to take advantage and only held a single point lead at the interval; in the opening half Bornacoola scores from Conor Mc Cauley, Kevin Shanley, Ronan Mulligan, Sean Mc Keon and Ollie Vaughan had kept the scoreboard ticking over. A Ronan Mulligan goal early in the second period sent the Bors on their way to victory and by the time substitute Brian Conroy goaled in the dying minutes, the game was over as a contest. Underage News – Training will continue for all age groups on Saturday mornings at 10.30 am sharp. We are asking this year if all players could be there on time as it makes it easier for coaches for setting up drills.  Please also ensure your child wears a gum shield to all training sessions. U12’s – St Joseph’s U12 team took part in the Colmcille U12 tournament on Saturday. They played the hosts Colmcille in the first game and put in a battling performance to earn a draw. The next opponents were a skillful Granard side who made our lads pay for the concession of two soft goals in the first half and who ran out winners by 5 points. The final opponents in the group were Ardagh and the lads put in their best performance of the day to win by a comfortable margin. This meant we were into the Cup quarter-finals where we come up against a strong Mullahoran team who proved too strong for our lads despite a much improved second half display. Thanks to Colmcille for the invitation and congratulations on organising such a well run competition which was enjoyed by all present.

Westlink Coaches U15’s – Hard luck to our U15’s who were defeated by Sean O’Heslin’s on Thursday evening. Shield semi-final takes place on Thursday with opponent and venue to be confirmed.
