Over the last few days throughout Leitrim there are reports of a big demand for tickets for the Connacht Semi-final clash between Leitrim and Galway.

It looks like the live coverage on RTE is not deterring the faithful Green and Gold followers from the encounter against the Tribesmen in Salthill. This support, as Leitrim try and create a 16th man, will be a welcome encouragement to the team in what should be a very exciting event.

One long time Leitrim supporter had a major dilemma when he had to decide onÓgoing to a Neil Diamond concert in Dublin on Saturday evening and making it to Galway on Sunday in time for the game. His solution was simple – after some research and with no expense spared he has managed to get a seat on a private flight from Baldonnell to Carraroe airport – What a supporter !

– Come on the Green and Gold !

The Leitrim County Board have ensured that Leitrim supporters will be able to keep in touch with their teams fortunes in 2005 by becoming the first County to provide live updates of their Allianz league games online at their official website www.leitrimgaa.ie. The service provides real time Scóring with a log of the key events at the game to keep the county?s supporters up to date with all the action as it happens live.

The service was launched for Leitrim?s recent game against Fermanagh and the Leitrim County Board have confirmed that a large web audience followed the county?s fortunes against Clare and Carlow over the last fortnight and they are expecting a record audience for this Sunday?s clash with neighbours Longford.

The project is one of many IT initiatives aimed at bringing GAA related information and news to the public and media at large. With a large Leitrim Diaspora in England, America, Australia and elsewhere across the globe, the service has proven extremely popular and the possibility of extending the service to include audio or visual coverage is being examined.

Brendan Doyle, Chairman of the IT Committee ?I feel we have only begun to discover the benefits & possibilities of the internet and feel that it will continue to radically improve our ability to inform the public and media of Leitrim?s progress through their various games. I look forward to continuing with this free service over the coming year as we maximise the potential from the web.?
