Results

With two championship semi-finals up for decision, last weekend hopes were high of reaching the final in both. In the first game on Saturday morning our u17 team took on St Mary’s Kiltoghert. The first half was closely contested with Mary’s going in at half-time a goal up. The Fenagh lads hit some good form as the second half progressed and hit goals at crucial times running out winners on a scoreline of 6.11 to 2.09. This win sets up a County Final meeting with neighbours Sean O’Heslins on Sunday 15th October. On Saturday evening the Junior B semi-final took place with Glencar Manor the opposition. Despite Fenagh starting well and leading through the second half, Manor got a goal at a crucial time and try as they might Fenagh couldn’t respond with Glencar Manor holding out in the end for a 2 point victory on a scoreline of 1.09 to 0.10.
Junior Champions 1967
The Fenagh team of 1967 who won the Leitrim Junior Championship will be honoured on Saturday 14th October next to mark the 50th anniversary of their success. A special mass will be celebrated in St Mary’s Church Foxfield at 7pm by Club President Fr Tommy Greenan and afterwards, a social event will take place at The Abbey Bar. All club members are invited and encouraged to attend as well as everyone in the community.
Connacht Skills Challenge 
Fenagh St Caillins were represented by James Gilheaney, Colm McLoughlin, Ruairi O’Rourke and Matthew Hargaden in the Connacht U12’s skills challenge held recently at the Connacht Centre of Excellence. The lads acquitted themselves very well against the best in the province and finished 2nd overall in the scoring competition.
Lotto
Lotto Draw was held on Sunday night last with the numbers drawn 6 8 5 3 1 4 2 7. The jackpot of €1750 wasn’t won. Winners of €20 on the night were Eimear Quinn, Bill Quinn and Patricia McCaffrey with the yearly ticket holder €20 prize going to Tara Gill. Thank you for your continued support.
Underage Fixtures
On Wednesday evening 4th October our u11’s take part in Leitrim blitz in the Leitrim Centre of Excellence at 6.30pm and on Saturday next 7th October our u12’s take part in the annual Shane Brennan Tournament in Newtownforbes.

Championship  –  Co final day is almost here and the preparations are going good  – lads, you have lifted the heart and soul of our Parish and everyone wishes you  the best of luck on Sunday in Pairc Sean with game starting at 1 30 – a big go raibh maith agaibh to all who helped with turning our Parish green and white and for all the support over the past week.

Under 12’s – Comhghairdeas to St Bridgets who had a great win in the Shield final  when they played Ballinamore on Friday eve last in Aughnasheelin , we were represented by Dearbhla Gunn, Riona McTeigue,  Lily Mahon, Caoimhe Cullen (who is joint captain), Aoibhinn Meehan,  Eadaion McTeigue, Emer Murphy and Kayleigh Hudson and well done to Barbara Gunn who is one of their trainers well done girls on your great commitment to training all year.  Under 14 girls have a final coming up next – more details later.  Under 17 lads had a good win on Saturday over Rynn Gaels and wishing a speedy recovery to the young Rinn Geals player who was injured.  Under 17’s play St Josephs on Saturday next at 12 a venue to be decided.  Oughteragh Gaels were beaten on Sunday in their game in Ballyhaunis – well-done girls on winning the Intermediate championship in Leitrim.  Under 10’s finished up their outside training for the year but they hope to recommence training in the Sports Hall later in the year – more details later –  Our Senior players joined them on Saturday morning to the delight of our younger players great to see you there lads.  Go raibh maith agaibh to the ladies who provided the refreshments for all after the training.

On Friday night our new Lights were switched on and our lads had their first training session under them – they are a great job – you’d think we had an Airport now in Achadh na Sileann.

County Senior Championship Final
Our senior team enter the Páirc Seán arena on Sunday for the biggest day in the Leitrim GAA Calendar.  We as a club are so proud to be part of this special day.  We are more proud of our senior team than words can express.  We will witness that pride in the voice and colour of our wonderful supporters on Sunday in Carrick on Shannon.  See you there.  Good luck to Killian our team captain and all the lads and Aidan and Sean who have guided the team on their journey to the Connacht Gold Senior Championship Final.  Throw in 3.30 pm with the game preceded by the Fox Monumentals Intermediate Championship Final between Aughnasheelin and Leitrim Gaels at 1.30 pm.

Junior B Championship Semi Final
There was great excitement in Carrick on Shannon last Saturday evening when our Junior B team defeated Fenagh in the Championship semi-final. A superb 2nd half performance saw the lads overturn a two-point half deficit to run out three point winners.  Final score 0-10 to 1-10.  This Saturday at 5pm they play Mohill in the Championship Final.  Keep an eye on our Facebook Page for the venue.  We wish the team and management of Dermot McMorrow, John Sheridan and Sean Watters the very best of luck.  Please come along in full voice and colour to set the tone for the weekend.

U15 Shield Final

U13 County Champions
What an absolutely brilliant performance from this group of fine young men who came out on top in their U13 County Final against a gallant St. Marys side on Saturday morning in Ballinamore.  It is great to see all the hard work being carried out at underage in the club reap rewards.  Dominic, Stuart and Kevin have invested a lot of their voluntary time coaching these players over a number of years and the club and parents really appreciate their commitment, dedication and expertise.  On Saturday the team played an attractive brand of football that was a joy to behold.  They were commanding throughout the game with an all-round team performance ensuring they were crowned the inaugural winners of this competition.  Gabriel Gilbride Jones was the proud captain who had the honour of lifting the cup on behalf of his teammates on this special occasion for our club.  Well done Gabriel.  Final Score 2-14 to 1-2.

U17 Championship Semi Final
Hard luck to our U17 boys who were defeated in the 13 aside championship semi-final by Allen Gaels in Drumshanbo on Saturday last.  They had a great season and should be proud of their performances in the competition.  Special thanks to Dermot McMorrow, Colm Farrell and Adrian Croal for coaching the team all year.

Lotto Jackpot Winner
The Glencar Manor Lotto Jackpot has been won by Shane D’Arcy, Glencar.  The draw took place in Biddy’s on Monday evening.  The winning numbers were 3, 14, 19 and 23.  Well done to Shane who wins €6,800.

Junior A Championship
Our Junior A team have qualified for the semi-finals where they will play Carrigallen.  No details of this fixture as yet but glad to report the lads are working away.

New Arrivals
We extend heartfelt congrats to our two senior footballers who became Daddy’s recently.  Brian McDonald and Mary Kerrigan welcomed baby Sadie while Thomas Coyle and Máire Kelly welcomed baby Chloe.

Ladies Division 1 League 
Hard luck to our Senior Ladies who lost their last league game to Aughawillan in an away fixture on Sunday morning.  Despite leading by five points at halftime the girls lost by four points.  They had plenty of chances to get a result from the game but found the Aughawillan goalkeeper, Maeve Quinn in inspired form.  Many thanks to the large travelling support who turned up for the fixture on a wet morning in Drumreilly.  Best of luck to Aughawillan in the League Final.

Hurling
Our magnificent hurlers booked their place in the Leitrim Championship Final when accounting for Ballinamore on Sunday in the Leitrim GAA Centre of Excellence.  Final Score 2-13 to 0-5.  The County Final is scheduled for Saturday 14th October against Carrick Hurling Club.   Be sure to keep the date free.

Minor/U16 Ladies
The minor girls have one remaining championship group game against Fenagh/Kiltubrid when they will be hoping to maintain their 100% winning record.  No details of the fixture as yet.  The U16s await the commencement of their championship after the postponement of their scheduled games to-date.

Academy Training
Academy training continues on Friday nights from 6.30 to 7.30pm in Boggaun with large numbers in attendance.  The focus is on learning the skills and making friends through fun and games.  New players welcome at any time.  Check our Facebook Page for times.

U17 Shield Semi-Final

Well done to our Under 17 Boys team who defeated Dromahaire On Saturday morning last in Glencar to qualify for the Championship Shield Final. This will be played in Pairc Naomh Muire in Carrick on Saturday at 12 noon with Annaduff being the opposition.

U12 Skills Competition

Well done to Jack, Harry, Karl and Darragh who competed in the U12 skills competition in the Centre of Excellence in Ballyhaunis on Friday evening last.

Connacht GAA Bursary Awards 2017/18

Connacht GAA will award bursaries of €750 to students attending Higher Education colleges.  The scheme will be open to members of the Association who are attending a full-time Higher Education course and who are active participants in their Higher Education club. Students who hold other GAA-related or a college scholarship/bursary will not be eligible to apply. Connacht GAA welcomes applications from those students in our province, regardless whether their attendance is at a college inside or outside of Connacht”. A number of awards in each province will be reserved for those excelling in the areas of coaching and administration. Each bursary granted will be for €750 and payment will be made annually in two instalments of €375. Intermediate – All roads lead to Pairc Sean on Sunday at 1:30pm  as the first Leitrim Gaels team take to the field for the clubs first Intermediate County Final. The team has proven that you don’t just show up and be given the right to a final by seeing off Fenagh and Drumkeeran. They face a very good Aughnasheelin side that has the experience of playing Division 1 football and will be just as much up for the game as we are. We want everyone out in support of the team on Sunday and look forward to a fantastic day. Win/Lose or Draw the team has had a fantastic year and taken the Club to a new historic level, bring on Aughnasheelin to the “ferocious” Gaels.

There was no winner of the Lotto which took place last Saturday in The Dugout.  The numbers drawn were 1-5-2-7-6-0-4-3.  €30 winners on the night were Sean McInerney Redhills, Mary Cunningham Co Meath, Michael Wall Mohill, Mary O’Brien and Darragh McCabe. County Final

The stage is set for the biggest day in Leitrim Club football and Mohill has the privilege of being part of this spectacle. You just don’t walk into a final without massive effort and our panel and management have put in months of training in sometimes difficult conditions to get where they are. The whole parish and surrounding clubs will be out in numbers to cheer you on and may the best team win and may that be us

Missing Supporters

So many of our faithful supporters passed away before their time this year, the list is too long to mention but their nearest and dearest will know who we mean. They will be sorely missed on Sunday next.  May they all rest in peace.

Junior B Final

On Sat next in Ballinamore, we meet Glencar Manor in the Junior B final so everyone can go there and support these young and not so young players. It will give people a chance to practice their cheering in preparation for the senior game the day after. Under 17

These young men played the last game of the season on Saturday last when St Joseph’s beat them by one point in the Shield semi-final. We thank the panel and management of Matt Gaffey and John Baxter who put in endless time training. We say goodbye to Tadhg Doherty who now leaves us to play with his club Cloone. Tadhg has played his heart out for Mohill –as do all the Cloone and Eslin players- since he was Under 12 and has developed into a handy player who will be a great asset to Cloone. Minor girls win

At last our lovely ladies have got their hands on a trophy. The Under 18s achieved this in a nail-biting Shield Final against Keeldra Gaels on Sunday morning last in Kiltubrid. The score was 4-1 to 1-9 and nerves were frayed all through. The panel and scorers was: Michele Hackett, Evelyn Reynolds, Sinéad McNabola, Sarah Doyle, Niamh Beirne, Emma Quinn 1-0, Alannah McGuiness, Clodagh Mitchell, Rachael Stenson, Gemma Stenson 3-0. Subs used were, Chloe Mulligan, Laura Casey, Emily Harkin while the rest of the panel was, Bella Rowley, Sarah Murphy, Ellen McGuiness, Sophie Ferns and Geraldine Reynolds. The victory was a fitting reward for Simon and Siobhán McGuiness who keep training the girls through thick and thin.

Dunnes Bar Division 2 League
We host our neighbours Aughavas next Saturday at 5pm in the final round of the league. This is a must-win game for both teams. Please support.

Golden Goal Draw 

Well done to Jack Mc Keon, Liscloonadea, who was the winner of the €500 first prize in the All Ireland Final Golden Goal Draw. Son James and daughter-in-law Deirdre were on hand to pick up the prize on Jack’s behalf on Saturday night after the draw in the Brandywell.

Ladies News 

Bornacoola/St Mary’s Ladies travelled to Elphin at the weekend to play Tulsk in the Connacht Junior Championship. Unfortunately, the ladies suffered a very heavy defeat to the Roscommon champions who proved significantly stronger all over the field. Next year the girls will move up a level to participate in the Intermediate championship and despite Saturday’s result, they will be happy to have won a Junior Championship at the first time of asking.

Club Draw 

The Club Draw took place in the Brandywell on Saturday night last – our thanks to Gerry and staff for a great night and to Seamus Mallon who was the draw coordinator on the night as well as to our ticket sellers.  Winners were; €100 Aidan Dockery, €20 each to Patricia Bohan, Margaret Faughnan, Liam Mulligan, Noel Mc Closkey and Josephine Mc Gushin

Underage News 

The last training session of the year took place on Saturday morning last and our youngsters turned out in huge numbers to enjoy the end of year party. The Underage Committee would sincerely like to thank all parents for bringing their children to training sessions and matches throughout the year and a special word of thanks goes to all of our coaches for their professionalism and commitment throughout the year, and of course to our catering committee who kept us everyone fed and watered every Saturday. Our Gaelic for Mothers and Others team are in action this Wednesday night when they play Annaduff in Dromod at 8pm.

Under 13 Shield Winners

Congratulations to the Under 13 team who defeated St Marys in the Shield Final at St Osnat’s Community Pitch on Sunday evening. They put in a great performance in the game and were worthy winners. Final score Melvin Gaels 1-11, St Marys 1-9.

Well done to all the lads involved and thanks to Liam Gilmartin and all who helped in training these young lads who have represented the Club so well.

No Joy for the Under 17 Team

Despite a spirited display by the Under 17 team on Saturday evening, they finished second best to Ballinamore in the Championship Semi Final. Thanks to Liam Ryan, David Roynane, Pearse Mc Gloin and all who helped this group of lads this year. They played some great football and have done the Club proud in 2017. Well done all.

U-17’s
The lads had a great win over Glencar Manorhamilton in the park on Saturday in the championship semi final on a scoreline of 2-15 to 4-03. First half goals from Aaron McCawley & David Gallagher laid the foundation for victory and although Manorhamilton stage a second half revival the lads had enough in the tank to secure the win.  We now play Leitrim Gaels in the final possibly this Saturday so watch out for the fixture. Best of luck to the players and to Micky, Fergus & Noel.
U-8’s & 10’s
Coaching for the younger age groups wrapped up for the year with a blitz on Saturday morning with neighbours Kiltubrid. Many thanks to all the coaches who gave their time all year and well done to all the boys & girls who took part.
