Minor Girls reach Connacht Final – Congratulations to our Minor management team of Neil Faulkner and Maire Keaney, and the panel of players who travelled to St Croan’s Park, Ballintubber, Co. Roscommon on Sunday last to take on Roscommon Champions Clann Na nGael. The Glencar-Manor girls started brightly with Dearbla Rooney finding the net from the throw-in. Throughout the first half, brilliant saves by Alva Sheridan in the Glencar Manor goals, a tenacious defence, hardworking midfield and speed combined with sharp shooting upfront, including a hat trick by Leah Fox and two from Dearbla Rooney, ensured the girls led by 5-7 to 1-6 at halftime.  Aided by the wind in the second half Clann na nGael emerged after halftime determined and launched a strong comeback to leave only 5 points between the teams 5 -9 to 3 -10. As the game tightened tensions rose on the field and Clann na nGael were reduced to 14 players as one of their girls received a Sin Bin.  With the benefit of an extra player, the Glencar Manor ladies dug deep and further scores from Eadaoin Clancy, Muireann Devaney (goal) and Orlaith Kelly secured a 6-11 to 3-10 win for the Leitrim champions. The team was Alva Sheridan,  Aisling Faulkner, Hannah Johnston, Tara McLaughlin, Laoise Clancy, Mary Broughton, Aoife Gallagher, Aoife Gilmartin, Eadaoin Clancy, Orlaith Kelly (Capt), Dearbhla Rooney, Chloe Rooney, Leah Fox, Muireann Devaney, Emma McLaughlin.  Subs used Aoife Feeney for T McLoughlin, Mairead Clancy for E. Senior Championship Semi Final
Our seniors will play Ballinamore SOH in the Connacht Gold Senior Football Championship semi-final this Saturday at 4pm in Páirc Seán with the other semi-final between Mohill and St Mary’s directly afterwards. In the quarter final replay last Saturday evening the lads played second fiddle to Aughawillan in the first half and trailed 1-5 to 0-5. They came out a different team in the second and with every man putting their shoulder to the wheel and upping their game they eventually booked their place in the semi-finals. Final Score Glencar Manor 0-14, Aughawillan 1-8. The support for the team was brilliant in our two quarter final games and the lads will need us all, more than ever on Saturday evening. Let’s all come out and do our bit!.

Junior A Championship Quarter Final Replay

Underage Championships
The U13s played their 15 aside championship semi-final on Monday night and after a titanic battle they emerged 3 point winners over hosts St Brigids. Good luck to the team as they prepare for the Championship final against St Mary’s. Well done to our U15 team who beat Gortletteragh last Thursday in the Shield semi-final. They will play the winners of Allen Gaels/Dromahair in the Final. Keep up the good work lads. Hard luck to our U17 team who were beaten by table toppers Leitrim Gaels on Saturday in Boggaun. They will play Dromahair in the final round of group games with fixture TBC. Please continue your support to our underage teams. Best of luck to all teams and their management.

Ladies Retain Division 2 League Title
Congratulations to our Division 2 Ladies Team who retained the League title on Sunday morning last after a captivating contest with Oughteragh Gaels. The sun shone in Kiltubrid as the Manor ladies took to the field against the Intermediate Champions hoping to retain the title captured by the Manor ladies first team a year earlier against the same opposition. Oughteragh Gaels dominated proceedings in the first half and the Manor girls were fortunate to reach half time on a scoreline of 2-2 to 0-8 – thanks to excellent saves from Natasha McEnroy between the posts. In the second half the ladies lifted their performance and the sharp shooting of Muireann Devaney, Leah Fox and Dearbhla Rooney who were starved of possession in the first half was aided by the quality of ball coming from the midfield pairing of Orlaith Kelly and Aoife Gilmartin and the defensive unit. Emma McLoughlin, Eadaoin Clancy and Captain Laoise Clancy worked tirelessly throughout the game providing excellent combination play and contributing scores when needed while in defence Laura McCann, Michelle McNulty, Hannah Johnston, Mary Broughton, Karen Connolly and Aoife Gallagher kept the Oughteragh Gaels forwards on their toes. Two subs were used during the game Aoife Gallagher for Gemma Tiffoney (20mins) and Rebecca Golden for Emma McLoughlin (55mins) and both players acquitted themselves well. Laoise Clancy accepted the cup on behalf of the team noting in particular the effort and dedication of Team Managers Shane Devaney and Padraig Kelly and congratulating Oughteragh Gaels on their Championship success the previous weekend. Well done Laoise.

We extend our sympathies to his many friends and teammates in St Mary’s. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.
