Aughawillan Drama Troupe – You have a great chance to see their latest production, ‘Drinking Habits 2,’ if you haven’t already. They will be on stage again on Sat 24th and Sun 25th February, curtains at 8.30 each night. Tickets are €10 and must be booked in advance. To book call 087 6486804.

Dates for the Diary – The 2018 season is due to get under in March with the Division 3 league due to start the weekend of March 3rd/4th, and Division 1 due to begin the weekend of March 31st/April 1st.

Dublin to Aughawillan Sponsored Cycle – 20 former Aughawillan players will cycle 150km from Castleknock GAA club to Aughawillan GAA club on May 12th. The cyclists are as follows: Mickey Quinn, Declan Darcy, Peter Prior, Gerry Flanagan, Noel Gilheany, Martin Flanagan, Gary Deane, Damien Gilheany, Pat Flanagan, Paul Bohan, Pauric Gilheany, Thomas Quinn, Niall Bohan, John Mannion, Pat Joe McNiffe, Seamus Quinn, Barry McBrien, Martin Flynn, Des Quinn & Ollie Plunkett.

The goal is for each member of the cycle is to raise €1,000 to go towards the upgrading of the playing surface of the main pitch. Any donations that exceed this target will be donated to the Irish Cancer Society. Donations can be made to the cyclists directly or online (more details on this to follow).

We ask that you support and encourage the cyclists in any way possible over the next few months as they prepare for the event in May. You can keep up to date with the cycle and preparations through our Facebook page – Aughawillan GAA.

Allianz Leagues 2018 – Well done to the Leitrim Hurling team who beat Fermanagh in Brewster Park last weekend, their final game in the League takes place on 4th March in Ballinamore, where they will play Cavan. Best of luck to Noel Plunkett and the Leitrim footballers who take on Limerick in their next League game. Venue- Pairc Sean MacDiarmada, Time- 2.30.

Ladies Football – Hard luck to the Leitrim Ladies’ team who were defeated by Offaly last weekend. They are due to play Meath in their next game, venue to be confirmed. There is massive representation from Aughawillan with 7 members on the Leitrim panel – Edel Shanley, Sarah Quinn, Eimhin Quinn, Aisling Quinn, Carla LeGuen, Sorcha Flanagan and Caoimhe Quinn. Meave Quinn also forms parts of the management team. Best of Luck to all the girls in their next game.

Corraleehan Parish Walk – Corraleehan Parish Walk continues each Thursday night at 8.30pm from Corraleehan Church. Community spirit, health, fitness, whatever your goals we will be happy to see you, everyone welcome.

Lotto – We recently held our monthly lotto draw! Numbers drawn were 9, 16, 23 & 34. No winner of the jackpot. Consolation prizes €20 Vera Turbitt & €10 David McDermott.

Sam Maguire Cup – The Sam Maguire Cup made a visit to St Michael’s National School in Glenfarne on Wednesday last! Thanks to principal Josephine Gallery for inviting the club committee, players & supporters along to share in the fun on the day. It was wonderful to see longtime club supporter & former player Tommy McManus & his granddaughter Katie who wrote 2 Dublin GAA asking if Sam could visit the school carry the cup into the school! It was a fantastic occasion that will live in all the kids’ memories for many years to come!

St. Francis Ladies – The ladies team took part in the Comortas Peile Paudi O’Se in West Kerry last weekend. After an opening win over Corca Dhuibhne of Kerry, the girls were beaten in the semi-final by eventual winners, Burrishoole of Mayo. Thanks to everyone who helped out with fundraising for and organising the trip.

Newtowngore Engineering U-17 League – The game against Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins didn’t go ahead on Sunday morning. The U-17’s travel to Fenagh on Saturday to take on the home side throw in 12noon. Best of luck to Fergus, Micky, Noel & the team.

Barna Recycling U-13 League – The U-13’s kicked off with a loss in Drumkeerin after a very early start on Sunday morning with a weakened team. We play Gortletteragh at home this Sunday at noon. Best of luck to Cyril, Kenneth, Richard & the lads.

U-11’s – The U-11’s had a good run out in Geevagh on Sunday morning. Many thanks to the Geevagh club for hosting the team.

Tony McGowan Run – The 6th Annual Tony McGowan Run took place on Sunday with a great turnout despite the weather. Well done to Drumshanbo Athletic Club on organising a great event.

Annual Race Night – The race night takes place on March 3rd in Conway’s. Anyone that can help out with sponsorship please contact any club officer. There will also be an awards presentation on the night.

Handball News – Drumshanbo had five participants in the Connacht Cumann na mBunscoil Finals in Salthill recently with Aidan Dowler, Aoife Nolan, Daire McCabe, Sean Nolan and Senan McGowan all taking part, congratulations to Aoife who won a bronze in the Girls U-13 Competition. Well done to all who made it to the finals. Congrats also to Dean Cornyn and Karl Foley who won the Leitrim Colleges First Year Doubles Final recently.

25 Card Drive – Allen Gaels 25 Card Game continues every  Sunday evening in Aras Phadraig at 8:30pm. Refreshments served. All welcome.

Bord Na Óg – The U17s started their D2 league at home to Drumkeeran on Saturday last. The Annaduff lads got the first score with a point from a free by Liam but the visitors got the next 3 points before Michael got one between the posts. The visitors got 3 goals before the break while Liam scored 2 and Jason got 1 point to leave the sides 4-04 to 0-05. In the second half the Annaduff lads shook off the cobwebs and got more into the game which seen Liam get the first score with a point followed up by a goal from Jason another goal followed by Drumkeeran before Cormac found the net followed by a point from Frank and Jack H and another from a free by Liam leaving the sides a lot closer by the end of the game. Full-time score; Annaduff 2-09 Drumkeeran 5-07. U13s also started their D2 league home to Fenagh St Callins on Sunday last under terrible conditions a close game throughout finishing up with the visitors wining by 4 points. Full-time score Annaduff 3-05 Fenagh 2-12. We are away to Glenfarne/Kilty on Sunday next the 25th February.

Under 13 league – This year we have two under 13 teams. We are taking part in the 15 a side and reserve leagues. On Sunday last we played Dromahair in both completions, we had a good victory over Dromahair in both games. Congratulations to the management team. Training continues this evening from 7 to 8.15.We have a challenge game on Thursday evening at 7 in Ballyfarnon against Shannon Gaels. Next league game against Glencar/Manorhamilton on Saturday in Manorhamilton at 3:30pm.

Under 17 League – Our under 17 team began their campaign on Saturday morning last when they played St Josephs in Carrigallen. St Josephs were the stronger team and won by six points. The club wishes Donal Casey a speedy recovery and hope it will not be long before he is back playing again. Next league game this Saturday morning at 12 noon against Sean o Heslins in Ballinamore.

Un7,9 and 11s – Training for this season is starting this Friday evening for all girls and boys in the area. Training wil be indoors for the first few weeks in hall at Leitrim Gaels community field facilities. Under 7 Boys and Girls from 6-7pm. ‘s Under 9 and 11 boys and girls 7-8pm. This will carry on until we go outside in late March. Registration is due and will be collected on the night.

Membership – Membership for 2018 is now due. All players from underage to senior must pay membership for insurance reasons while training and playing for the club. It must also be stressed that all players must wear a mouth guard during all activities including training sessions.

Horse Racing Money – Can all outstanding Race night money be paid as soon as possible, allowing for Rarenight winners to be paid out.

Condolences – We were deeply saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Damien McKeon on Sunday 11th. We express our sincere sympathy to his wife Marian, his children Cian, Ríona and Fionnan, His parents Ben and Peggy, brother Keiran, sisters Barbara, Jeannette and Mairead, brothers-in-law and sister in law, relatives, neighbours and many friends. Damien’s passing is a huge blow to the village of Keshcarrigan where he was well known for helping out behind the family bar. Damien will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as one of life’s true gentlemen. May he Rest In Peace.

Condolences – On behalf of all at the club we offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Gus Guckian who passed away peacefully recently. Gus was one of our former club players who helped to shape the club as it is today. Those who knew him will remember his playing days and his friendly demeanour. May he Rest In Peace.

Underage Fixtures – Our under 13 played their first fixture last weekend. Unfortunately, the result didn’t go their way even though they had a very strong display. This Sunday the 25th they are playing our neighbours St Caillins in Fenagh at 12 noon. Please show your support for our future footballers.

NFL Competition – Well done to Lisa Mulligan who is our Round 3 winner of our NFL  Predictions Competition.  Liam wins a prize of €50. All postponed games from round 3 were marked null and void as per our rules.
Round 4 will take place this coming weekend the 24/25th of February.

Lip Sync Legends night – Park Fundraiser – Kiltubrid GAA & Kiltubrid Ladies GAA are excited to announce that we will be holding a Lip Sync Legends Night on Sat 17th November 2018 in The Landmark Hotel
All funds raised will be in aid of the Pairc Cill Tiobraid Re-Development due to get underway in the coming months.

Fixtures – Our junior team starts their first round of the league the weekend beginning the 4th of March while our Intermediate team will begin their league campaign the 31st of March. Times and dates are to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Allianz League Leitrim v Limerick- Good luck to our County Seniors and their management team as they take on the men from Limerick next weekend. Div 4 has proven over the years that it’s as competitive as the higher divisions. This young panel of players deserve our patience and continued support going forward. Supporters club tickets are on sale throughout the county. Our club has an allocation to sell. Please continue to support if you can as the club will have to buy any unsold tickets. The prizes are generous and your support could land you a nice surprise on the night of the draw.

Ladies – Well done to St. Francis ladies who took part in Comórtas Peile Paidí O Sé in Kerry at the weekend. They lost out in the semi-final to Borrishoole of Mayo. A great weekend had by all. A special thanks to Ann, Sinead, Bernie and Verona for making the trip with the girls and for all their help.

The late Gus Guckian – Fenagh St Caillins GAA Club wishes to express our sadness at the news of the passing of club member and former club player Gus Guckian, R.I.P. Gus played with Fenagh during the 70’s winning junior and intermediate titles. He also played with Kiltubrid and Bornacoola during the 70’s and 80’s. We express our deepest sympathies to his sisters Veronica and Imelda, his extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Results – last weekend saw the commencement of this year’s underage leagues. Our u17’s played a strong St Mary’s team on Saturday losing out on a scoreline of 5.16 to 1.03. On Sunday our u13’s fared better, winning against Annaduff with the final score 2.12 to 3.5.
Fixtures – both u17 and u13 teams will be back in league action this coming weekend. Both games are fixed for Pairc Sean O’Laodain. Dates and times will be posted on Fenagh St Caillins Facebook page.
U11’s playing at halftime – Fenagh St Caillins u11 team will feature on Sunday next at half time in the National Football League game between Leitrim and Limerick in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada. Please come along and show them your support. Best of luck also to Donal and Ryan in the senior game. The game throws in at 2pm.

Scór na nÓg All Ireland Final – A huge well done to our Scór na nÓg quiz team consisting of Tom Prior, Colin Smyth, Danny Smyth & Dillon Beirne who took part in the All-Ireland final on Saturday, representing Ballinamore, Leitrim and Connacht. The lads were exceptional, and they acquitted themselves well in a very difficult and hard-fought quiz, despite their wonderful effort they were unable to clinch the title with the honours going to Cornafean Everyone at the club is very proud of the lads, for what they achieved, for their hard work and enthusiasm and for the dedication they have shown. Senior Scór takes place in the Mayflower Drumshanbo on 3rd March with the table quiz timed for 6.pm and main Scor competition at 7.30. Dancers, singers, reciters, actors please put yourself forward by contacting Brid Sullivan.

U13 and U15 Medal Presentation – A great evening on Friday watching two of our teams presented with their 2017 medals. First up were the u15 Kilmore Gaels team that won the inaugural u15 league. Followed by our under 13 lads who were presented with the u13 league plate winners. The future is certainly bright with all these talented youngsters representing the club and we are all very proud of their achievements and want pass on our thanks and well wishes to the lads and of course their parents and mentors for supporting them and giving up their time so freely not just at the ceremony but over the course of the season.

Under 17 League – Due to the Allen Gaels pitch not being playable the opening match was postponed, the lads will now be up against Leitrim Gaels at 12:00 on Saturday in Ballinamore

U13 League – Due to bad weather our u13 match was cancelled and the lads will now need to wait till Sunday to open their campaign when they will take on St Josephs at 12:00 in Ballinamore

Comhghairdeas ar lá bhúr bpósta – Everyone at the club would like to pass on our congratulation to the new Mr. and Mrs. McTeague, Anthony and Edel who got married in Kildare at the weekend, may they have many years of happiness!

Membership Registration Night – Folks there will be a membership registration night this Friday from 1900 till 2100 in the club rooms, it is important that all members update their membership as soon as possible.

A good night was enjoyed at our Celebration Dinner Dance on Saturday night in the Landmark – Comhghairdeas to our Intermediate Team who received their Championship Medals.  They were presented with their medals by our oldest President Pakie Mulvey.  Comhghairdeas to James McCaffrey who was presented with a special award for his involvement in the Club and as a Referee over many years and he’s not hanging up the whistle yet, also Martin McHugh who was presented with a  special award for his involvement and for his commitment to football over the last few years while not being in the best of health but TG Martin told us that he has received a clean bill of health – though he says he has his boots sold I don’t think we could believe that!

Comhghairdeas to our Young Player of the Year Ben McGirl and Senior Player Paddy McManus  well deserved lads –  Ben was presented with the Sean Sammon Cup by Michael Sammon and  Paddy received the Seanie Tubman cup from Annie Tubman – MC for the night was John Lynch who carried out the interviews and put everyone at ease with his great banter.  A lovely part of the night was the good wishes from our Aughnahseelin lads scattered all over the world and one not from Aughnasheeling maybe he might decide to come and join us.  Well done to the 3 Brendans, Lorraine, Mary and Jerome who did a great job organising the night.

The Kube – There were three fundraising events ran last weekend for the Kube. John Mulligan had his quiz in Spirit Bar on Friday night, Margaret Mc Nabola had her ceili afternoon in the community centre on Sunday and Barry Bohan had his pool competition in O Carolans on Sunday night. All events were a great success and very well supported. Next up is Keith Beirnes Kevin Painter darts exhibition which takes place in Beirnes Bar next Saturday night 24th starting at 7pm. Tickets for the night, which is on 16th March are also on sale from any club member.

Hurlers – Well done to the Leitrim Hurlers who had a good win over Fermanagh on Sunday last.

Club Draw – The Club Draw for February takes place this Saturday night, Feb 24th, in the Copper Still – Music on the night as always.

Minors – Rinn Gaels got their league campaign underway on Saturday morning last when they made the long trip to Kinlough to face Melvin Gaels. Despite goals from James Cunningham, Jamie Quinn and Sean Og Hynes, the Gaels team came up just short as the North Leitrim men held out for a 2-10 to 3-6 victory. This Saturday, the league continues as the boys take on Annaduff in Gortletteragh at 12noon.   

Challenge Game – Our thanks to Aughavas for providing the opposition for an entertaining challenge game in Dromod on Sunday morning last.
