Awards Night – Our Annual Awards for 2017 were presented at the first Club Draw of the year in the Copper Still on Saturday night last. Cian Mallon was named as the U17 Player of the year 2017, Liam Mulligan scooped the Junior Player of the Year and Damian Moran was named as Senior Player of the Year. There were presentations made to outgoing Treasurer Martina Hackett and Chairman Noel Mc Closkey in recognition of their outstanding service in office over the last number of years as well as a special presentation to Mary Mc Cauley for her outstanding work in the club. Feargal Mc Gill was named as Club Person of the Year. Well done to all of our winners.

 Club Draw – Winners in the first Club Draw of the Year were; €100 Damian Mc Guinness, Liscloonadea €20 each to John Shanley, Seamus Mallon, Paddy Reynolds, Joe Devine and Conor Hackett. Our thanks to all for selling tickets in the weeks leading up to Saturday night and also to our ticket sellers on the night. Next draw at the end of February.

This is Your Life – A date for your diary and our main fundraiser for 2018, hot on the heels of the huge success that was the Late Late Show last year, the club will be hosting a This is Your Life evening in Lough Rynn on Saturday, March 31st at 8pm (Easter Saturday). Admission will be just €10 and it promises to be a wonderful night full of fun, entertainment and nostalgia. You never know, it could be you!!

Texas Hold Em – There will be another poker night in the Clubhouse on Friday, February 16th next. Doors open at 8.30pm and play gets underway at 8.45pm. Refreshments will be served on the night – only €20 to play, plus buy backs. All welcome.

Underage Indoor Programme – The Club will be running an indoor football programme for its underage players, starting on Saturday, February 10th and running for 5 weeks. The programme will be rolled out in the Mohill Sports Complex and will focus on core football skills and agility. The cost will be €10 per child for the 5 weeks (€25 for a family of 3 children or more). 5-7 year olds will be from 10.30am to 11.10am, 8-9 year olds will be accommodated between 11.15am and 11.55am and 10-11 year olds from 12pm to 12.45pm. Club Awards Night – Our Club Awards will take place on Saturday 17th February in the Bee Park Community Centre at 8pm.  Please keep the date free – more details to follow.

Club Registration Nights – Club membership for 2018 will be collected on Friday nights 9th and 16th February between 6 and 8pm upstairs in the Gym at St Clare’s Comprehensive School.  Rates for the year are as follows: U10 Girls & Boys and U11 Boys (non-competitive grades) – €30 for 1st Child & remaining family members at these two age groups €20, U12-U18 Girls – €40, U13-U18 Boys – €40, Adult Players – €80 and Ordinary Club Members €30.  All players must be paid by 1st March 2018.

Sympathy – Our club offers sympathy to Attracta O Reilly (County Secretary) and her family on the death of her mother Kathleen McDermott.  May She Rest in Peace.

Leitrim Supporters Club Launch – Anyone from the club area wishing to join or renew the Leitrim Supporters Club should contact Phil Flynn, Collette Fox or Ciaran Sheridan.  The club has an allocation to sell so it is important you join/renew through the club.

Referee Positions – The County Board would like to recruit new referees in 2018. If this is something that is of interest to you this is a great opportunity to get involved with full training provided. Anyone interested in trying it out please contact Club Secretary, Phil Flynn.

Club Registration – Registration for the 2018 season will open on Saturday February 3rd between 7pm and 9pm and again on Sunday 4th February after mass from 11:45am to 1pm, at the football pitch. Contact Gabriel Flynn, Registrar, for more details.
 
Lisa Cullen & Baby Kayden fund – Following on from last nights club meeting there is a number of tickets now on sale for the Lisa Cullen & baby Kayden fund. These tickets can be purchased from any club member. All tickets must be back by February 3rd. Also, On Sat 3rd of Feb 7-9pm & Sun 4th of Feb after mass club officers will be on hand, in the ball alley, to help anyone who would like to donate to the go fund page for Lisa Cullen online. Urgent – Coaches for Underage urgently needed and we urge parents to become involved and give a hand out. Foundation level training will be provided which include Garda Vetting, Child protection and safeguarding. You can put your name forward at club registration or to any club member.

County Board Awards Night – Takes place on Saturday February 3rd so hoping to see a good crowd from Club there to support our well deserved Award Winners – Ciaran Cullen U 17 County Footballer – a great honour for Conor and his family and our Club – last year this was U 16 Award which also came to our Club with Aaron Hoare being the recipient  –  Intermediate Player Barry McWeeney also a great honor for Barry and family – Senior Referee Brendan Sammon a great honour for Brendan and family – well done to all.

Our Club Dinner Dance and Awards night – This is taking place on Saturday, February 17th in the Landmark – hoping to see a big turnout for this celebration night.

Medal Ceremony – What a night we had on Friday watching our u16 girls and u17 boys receive their medals from Dublin Star Dean Rock. Dean was an inspiration to all that attended giving some wonderful advice to the young players and future stars of the club. We would like to thank Dean for attending and spending so much time ensuring everyone got their selfie and autograph, he has left many a child and adult with great memories and mementos to treasure for the future, Dean is a gentleman and a star. Special thanks also to all that attended and to all those that helped with the wonderful refreshments, there was certainly no one left hungry !! special thanks also to Eunan Sweeney for taking great pictures of the event

Comhghairdeas – Congratulation to Columba Cryan who was recognised at the Leitrim Supporters launch in Croke Park on Thursday night. Columba was recognised for his historic railway cup win which took place in 1958, 60 years ago this year, Columba was recognised along with two other Leitrim legends Paddy McGarty and Cathal Flynn This is wonderful recognition of three wonderful footballers

There are separate groups for relative beginners, for those who have some Irish and for those who are fluent. These classes are a great opportunity to practice the Irish you know and to improve it. Training – Training for 2018 started on Sunday last with a huge turnout, great to see some new faces and some old faces back on the field again. Training will continue on Tuesday and Friday night at 8pm in the centre.

Fundraiser – We are in the process of launching our main fundraiser for the year. It has been 12 years since we had a big fundraiser, which was ‘Who wants to be a Thousandaire’, which was very successful. This time we are going with the popular tv game show  ‘ The Kube’. It will be held in Lough Rynn Castle on Friday 16th March with doors opening at 7.15pm, Admission €20. We are now looking for people to take part who will do their own individual fundraising, the main sponsor for the event and people to sponsor adverts. The winner will receive €1,000 and there will also be a raffle and spot prizes on the night. We hope that everyone involved will put in a big effort and make this a success. SCÓR NA NÓG ALL IRELAND FINAL – The Scór na nÓg All Ireland Final will be held in the Knocknarea Arena on Saturday 17th February.

As the venue is smaller than usual, it is a TICKET ONLY event. It will NOT be possible to pay on the door on the day.

BABY JOY – There was great excitement in the Crowe households during the week with the arrival of two beautiful baby girls. Congratulations to Barry & Lisa on the birth of baby Sophie, a baby sister for Oisín and to David & Aoife on the birth of their first baby Ella.

Lights On Weekly Walk Group – A great turnout for our first night of Ireland Lights Up – Operation on Monday night at Melvin Park, Kinlough for Transformation Official GAA! Thanks to all who walked. Bord na nÓg Committee – A new Bord na nÓg Committee has been appointed the for the forthcoming year. Liam Freeburn  Chairman, Niall Clancy as Secretary and Marie Downey as Treasurer. We wish them the very best for 2018. We have huge underage numbers and we look forward to training starting for all age groups in the coming weeks.

We will have a Registration Day on Sat Feb 10th from 11am for all members.

We would also like to thank Anne McGloin, Catherine Regan and Annette Lipsett as the outgoing Bord na nOg committee for all their hard work this past year.

Girls Football – A new Girls Committee has been formed to progress getting our girls’ teams playing matches this year. Georgie Gallagher as Chairperson, Eloise McGinty as Secretary and Annette Lipsett as Treasurer. Congratulations to them and we wish them all the best. We had a huge interest last year in our Gaelic4Girls program and we hope to see them all back again in 2018!

We are planning starting girls training back this Wednesday 5.30-6.30 in the hall and would love for any girl (all ages) interested in playing football to come along.

Allianz National Football League – Good luck to the Leitrim senior football team who commence this year’s league in Belfast next weekend against Antrim. Fenagh St Caillins are represented by Donal Wrynn who captain’s the Leitrim team again this year and also Ryan O’Rourke.

National Club Draw 2018 – Members of the Fenagh St Caillins Club will be calling to houses in the Parish with tickets for the National Club Draw. Noel McManus Memorial Run – The club would sincerely like to thank Fiona, Laura and Dervla McManus for their donation of €1600 of proceeds from last year’s Noel McManus Memorial Run. The funds are being used to assist the continuing progress and fitting out of the gym in the community centre. The 2018 Noel McManus Memorial Run takes place this Good Friday the 30th March and includes a 50k cycle. This is always a fantastic event and we are looking forward to this year’s edition already.

LOTTO – There was no winner of our Lotto draw last Sunday 21st.  The numbers drawn were 3-2-5-1-7-4-6-0.  €30 winners on the night Gabriel Higgins, Noel Shortt, Mattie Fee, Lile McCabe and Martin McIntyre.  The house prize sponsored by The Dugout was won by Francis Beirne.  The next draw on Saturday 3rd February will be co-coordinated St Joseph’s Ladies. FUNDRAISING DRAW – Our Aughavas GAA Fundraising Draw will take place this Saturday night 27thJanuary @ 10pm in “The Dugout”. Tickets are still on sale. €20 each or a book of three tickets for €50.  1st Prize is €3,000, 2nd Prize €1,000 and 5 Prizes of €100. Tickets are available from all Club Officers and players. All sold tickets can be returned to the Club rooms on Friday night at 9pm.

MEMBERSHIP 2018 – Club membership is now due. The fees for 2018 are Adults: €50, Students: €25, Underage: €20, Family membership: €100. Gym membership outside the parish is €100.

TRAINING – Training is on Friday night 26th January @ 8.30pm.

LEITRIM SENIOR TEAM –  Good luck to the Leitrim Senior Team who play Antrim in the First round of the League on Sunday 28th January in Belfast.

Race Night – Leitrim Gaels annual race night is set to take place this Saturday 27th January 2018 at the Leitrim Inn with the first race at 9pm. This is the clubs biggest fundraiser of the year. There are still a few horses available. Anyone wishing to sponsor a race should contact Mark Chandler or any committee member. Anyone with Completed cards should give them to Mark Chandler or leave into Mc Cormac’s, Donnellan’s or the Leitrim Inn.

County Team – Best of luck to Aidan, Brendan, Colm and the Leitrim senior team in the start of their league campaign away to Antrim on Sunday next. We also wish Enda and Liam Moreton and the Leitrim hurlers who start their League against Sligo on Sunday also.

National Draw Tickets – The National draw tickets are on sale locally, they cost €10 each with fantastic prizes. This is one of our main Fundraising events and all proceeds go towards the cost of running the club. We very much appreciate your support.
