Kiltubrid GAA NFL Predictions Competition – Win €550 with  Kiltubrid GAA NFL Predictions competition which starts with Round 1 next Saturday 27th January.  All slips must be returned by Saturday morning at the latest.  It’s the same format as last year.  We’ve added an online Pay & Play facility which will allow you do your picks online if you pay €14 up front before Friday 26th January. Corraleehan Parish Walk – Corraleehan Parish Walk continues each Thursday night at 8.30pm from Corraleehan Church. Community spirit, health, fitness, whatever your goals we will be happy to see you, everyone welcome.

U9 & U11’s – U9 training in Aughavas Community on Wednesday at 6:30pm. U11 training in Carrigallen Community Centre on Wednesday at 6:30pm. Both groups will alternate each week between both venues.

Club Draw & Awards Night – Tickets for the 2018 Club Draw are currently available from Club members and once again for just €20 you are guaranteed entry in all 12 monthly draws. The first draw of the year takes place this Saturday, January 27th in the Copper Still; music on the night and all sellers are reminded to have their tickets returned well in advance of the night. That night we will also be presenting our 2017 Awards including the Players’ of the Year and the Club Person of the year. We look forward to seeing you there!

Underage Indoor Programme – The Club will be running an indoor football programme for its underage players, starting on Saturday, February 10th and running for 5 weeks. The programme will be rolled out in the Mohill Sports Complex and will focus on core football skills and agility. The cost will be €10 per child for the 5 weeks (€25 for a family of 3 children or more). 5-7-year-olds will be from 10.30am to 11.10am, 8-9-year-olds will be accommodated between 11.15am and 11.55am and 10-11 Yr olds from 12pm to 12.45pm. If you are interested, please come along to the Bornacoola GAA clubhouse for registration night on Thursday 01st Feb 2018 from 7 pm to 9 pm to book your place. ALLIANZ  LEAGUE – We wish the Leitrim Senior football team the very best of luck when they head to Corrigan Park Antrim to take on the home team in the first game in the Allianz football league for 2018. A difficult assignment, but one where victory is achievable. We wish them the very best.

Presentation Night – Our awards and Dinner Dance was a great success on Saturday last. It was fitting that the players were presented with their medals by ex-Manager Padraic Davis. Padraic was emotional in his farewell speech but he assured everyone he was only a phone call away. We wish him well in his future endeavours. We thank everyone who helped organise the event and all the businesses of the town who gave spot prizes.

New Manager – Also present on Saturday night was our new football Manager Frank Browne and his wife Deirdre. He delivered a nice introductory speech to everyone present and we welcome and wish him success in 2019

National GAA Draw – This week Club members will be out selling the National Draw tickets for €10 in the Mohill area. There are some great prizes all donated by GAA Headquarters which include a car, All Ireland Hurling and football packages, Great shopping vouchers. The Club is hoping to make big improvements in the Park this year which will be to the benefit to all the community, so be generous and buy a ticket or maybe two

County Team – We wish the County team success as they meet Antrim in the National League first round, away. There are seven Mohill men on the panel, James Mitchell, Shane Quinn, Keith Keegan, Caillin Canning, Alan Armstrong, Keith Beirne and Oisín Madden. The following week will be a home game, support, as usual, is appreciated.

Retirement – Best wishes to Jimmy Holohan on his retirement from coaching in Leitrim GAA. Club players and members have fond memories of Jimmy during his time as the coach in St. Hugh’s primary school. Thanks for all your hard work over the years. Best wishes on your retirement.

AGM – The Club held a very successful Annual General Meeting in the clubhouse on Saturday evening last and a large crowd attended. Outgoing chairman Mickey Lohan gave a detailed chairperson’s address in which he highlighted the positive features from 2017. He complimented the work of the intermediate team under the excellent guidance of team manager Niall Murray. He thanked all the people who gave of their time in a voluntary capacity to attend to all the various duties that are needed to run the GAA club. Mickey did not seek re-election, and the club would like to thank Mickey for six outstanding years’ service to Cloone GAA in which he spearheaded many outstanding initiatives. Mickey is replaced by new chairman Liam Reynolds.
Outgoing secretary Martin McCaffrey also gave a very detailed report of the year’s activity in which he outlined the positive attitude among the players which resulted in a very enjoyable year. He thanked all the people who helped with the running of the club through the year without whose help the club could not run.
The financial report by outgoing treasure John Reynolds showed the club is in a reasonable financial state but renewed efforts with fundraising will have to be high on the agenda during 2018. John did not seek re-election and the club would like to thank John for all his efforts in fundraising and managing the clubs finance throughout the last number of years. John is replaced as treasurer by Gerry Keegan. At the close of the meeting lifelong supporter Kevin Foley gave a rousing speech in he informed the gathering that it is sixty years since he attended his first Club meeting, and that this year marks sixty years this since the club had been reformed at a meeting in Dillon’s Egg Store in 1958, having out of action for a few years.
SYMPATHY – The club would like to extend its sympathy to the Reynolds family Gortletteragh on the recent death of TP Reynolds. TP played with Cloone winning a senior league in 1952, a year that Gortletteragh did not field a team. To his family and friends, we extend our sincere sympathy. The club would also like to extend a sincere sympathy to the Tubman family Fenagh on the sudden death of Eamonn. Eamonn was deeply involved in GAA matters in his beloved Club Fenagh St Caillins, was vice chairperson of Leitrim Co Board in that historic year of 1994 when Leitrim won the Connacht championship. Eamonn also had an association with our club as he was the joint manager, with our present PRO, of our amalgamated Minor team Eastern Harps which won the Leitrim Minor Championship in 1981. To his family, we extend our sincere sympathy on the passing of a great gentleman.
LEITRIM GAA SUPPORTERS DUBLIN LAUNCH – The annual launch of the Dublin branch of the Leitrim GAA Supporters Club will take place in the Celtic Suite in Croke Park on this Thursday evening starting at 7 30 p.m. Special guest on the night will be Marty Morrissey, our ever popular GAA broadcaster, and now star of ‘Dancing with the stars’ The supporters club will also be recognising three Leitrim legends who won Railway cup medals, sixty years ago in 1958. The three Packie McGarty, Columba Cryan, and Cathal Flynn will be present on the night, and no doubt many memories of the Leitrim performance in the famous 1958 Connacht Final and the winning of the Railway cup will be shared and recalled on the night. Leitrim GAA supporters are very proud of these living legends and no doubt a huge crowd will be present to honour them on the night. To cap off the night there will be entertainment provide by the ever popular traditional group GARADICE. This quartet included the ever popular Eleanor Shanley, Padraigh McGovern, Dave Sheridan, and John McCartin. This promises to be a huge night’s entertainment and it kick off the Leitrim GAA fundraising campaign for 2018. A free bus will be travelling to the event on the evening and the pickup times are as follows, Drumshanbo 4 15 pm,  Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada 4 40 pm, Bornacoola Gaa Grounds 5 pm. A night not to be missed.
FBD.
This Wednesday evening we host the postponed Connacht FBD Game Leitrim V Sligo in the Park at 7 PM. This will be a big occasion for the club and all stewards are asked to be available in good time to assist with the running of this game. Leitrim will be hoping to get two points following their defeat to Galway in Clonbur on Sunday last, and it gives Team Manager Brendan Guckian another opportunity to look at more players prior to the first round of the national league against Antrim, in Antrim on next Sunday week.

Presentation Night – On Saturday next we hold our Presentation and Awards night in Lough Rynn Castle with a reception starting at 7pm. All ticket orders must be in by today Wednesday. This will be a night to celebrate what was a most successful year for the club. The music will be provided by DJ, Keelin Murphy. Don’t miss it.

Scór na nÓg – Congratulations to Mohill’s fabulous young singer Amelia Pajek who is Connacht Scór na nÓg Champion in solo singing, Amelia won the hearts of the audience and the adjudicators with her beautiful rendition of Siúil a Rún, she will now represent Leitrim in the All Ireland finals in Sligo. The young actors in The Novelty Act got a great response from the audience and were just pipped to the post by an older bunch from Mayo. All of our participants did Mohill and Leitrim proud on Sunday last in Claremorris and we congratulate the Dancers and Ballad Group from Carrick and the Question Time from Ballinamore who have also qualified for Slogo

AGM – There was a large attendance at the AGM held on Friday last in the Clubrooms. Paul Murphy stood down as Secretary to pursue further studies. Paul has worked hard for the Club for the last two years and has seen success on and off the field, he still has a strong involvement with Bórd na nÓg so retirement is not on his agenda. Colm Conway an enthusiastic young man takes over from Paul as secretary and he’ll be a busy man in 2018 with hopes for big developments in the park. Another hard worker, Frank McGowan has retired as Treasurer but will continue as Lotto co-ordinator. Lisa Boyle takes his place as Treasurer and she is also eager to continue the great work of our past treasurers. The other officers were all elected en bloc. Chairman Padraig McLoughlin in his address praised and thanked everyone who played coached or worked in any way for the club all year, he hopes that the club will have continued success in 2018 and so say all of us
