St. Francis Ladies – Congratulations to the ladies who won a thrilling Intermediate Final in Ballinamore on Sunday with a 2-12 to 3-07 win over Mohill. Mairead McCawley struck an early goal to settle the nerves and we were on top for the early stages but Mohill staged a recovery and led by 5 points at one point but the girls showed great heart and determination and a second-half goal from Ailish Cornyn put us on the road to victory. Great credit goes to both teams and thank you to all the supporters who turned out to cheer the girls home. Well done to Paul, Gareth and the squad on a great achievement.

Division 2 Playoff – We play Dromahair in the long-awaited league playoff in Drumkeerin this Saturday at 4pm. As this will decide promotion to Division 1 for the coming season it’s a hugely important game so please turn out to support the lads. Good luck to Sean, Angus, Paddy & the team.

Minor Ladies – The ladies face St. Mary’s in the final which may be played this weekend so please watch out for the fixtures. Best of luck to Ciara, Dermot, Ann and the girls.

U-15’s – The U-15’s had a good win over Mohill in Ballinaglera on Sunday morning on a scoreline of 3-13 to 0-09. This was a really good team performance and goals from Liam McGourty (2) and Conor Flood set us on our way. We play Leitrim Gaels at home on Saturday morning at 12noon so good luck to Farrell, Angus and the team.

U-13 Regional Final – The Lough Allen Region lost out to the Carrick Region in the final of the U-13 competition in Cloone last Tuesday. Hard luck to the lads involved with this team.

Lotto – There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last week the numbers were 12-16-19-22. The prize winners of €20 each were: Mary Canning, Aughnasheelin; Sarah Beckett, Jamestown; Winnie Coyne, Dowra; John Gilmartin, Ballinaglera; Seamus Keane, Drumshanbo. The jackpot now stands at €3,230.

Junior A Final – We play Glencar/Manorhamilton on Saturday at 4:30pm in Ballinamore in the Junior A Championship County Final. We hope to see the area decked out in black and white over the coming days to show the support to our players and management. We wish them the best of luck on Saturday.

Intermediate Championship – The intermediate were defeated in their semi-final against Fenagh on Saturday last in Pairc Sean. Well done to all the players on a superb run through the group stages. They have one league game left to play against St Marys. Thanks to the management team of Mal, Peter and Bobby for having the team in such good fitness. Thank you to the supporters who were behind the team all year and let their voices be heard. Best of luck to Fenagh in the final.

Under 15 Championship – The under 15 team play Allen Gaels in the championship on Saturday at 12 noon in Drumshanbo.

Presentation Night – The Club will hold the end of year Bord na nNog Presentation Night for all underage teams, boys and girls, to mark their commitment and participation all year. This will take place at 7.45pm on Friday November 2nd in Kinlough Community Centre. The night will be topped off with the presentation of Medals to our winning Boys U17 Team who won Leitrim U17 Championship 13-a-side trophy. Special Guests invited & Refreshments served. All underage players from U7s right up, along with their coaches and parents are asked to attend.

Improvements to Facilities – More Fundraising ideas are needed to help with the badly needed improvements to the facilities available to the Club.  The drainage of Melvin Park is almost completed and funds are needed badly and it will take a lot to complete Phase 1 of the project, which is the realignment of the carpark wall and draining and realignment of the playing. It is an exciting and ambitious project which will cost in excess of €200,000 but it is urgently needed. More Club members and players are needed to help. The support has been very good so far. The fundraising will involve “Make Your Mark on Melvin Park” for €100 which will represent a square of Melvin Park, entry into a draw, prizes 5x €1000, and your name on a commemorative plaque. Senior Championship – All roads lead back to Pairc Sean MacDiarmada in two weeks time for the 2018 County Final! Having beaten St Mary’s, 1-12 to 2-7 in a challenging & hard-won semi-final, in which our teamwork shone through in all areas of the field. We now face Mohill in the final on October 14th at 3pm. In the lead up to the final we ask that you get the flags and banners out & show your support for the team in any way possible! Keep up-to-date with the excitement in the lead up to the match on our Facebook page – ‘Aughawillan GAA.’

Junior Championship – There are county finals on the double this year with the Junior team also in a County Final versus Fenagh/St Caillin’s. The venue & date is TBC and likely to take place in the weeks after the Senior final.

Underage – Hard luck to the St Brigid’s u15s who were defeated by St Mary’s last weekend, score:  St Brigid’s 1-4 St Mary’s 1-18. Their next game is against Glencar/Manorhamilton on Saturday October 6th at 12pm in Manorhamilton.

Ladies’ Football – Hard luck to St Brigid’s Minor Ladies’ who were defeated in the Shield Final by Glencar/Manorhamilton, having been one point in the lead at half time. Score: St Brigid’s 2-6 Glencar/Manorhamilton 4-12.

Liam Gormley Tournament – Well done to all the teams, coaches and mentors who took part in the Liam Gormley Tournament held last weekend. Congratulations to the u9 winners – Garadice Gaels & the u11 winners – Gowna. A special thank you to referees,  all those who helped out on the day to make it a success, thanks to Michael McGovern & Supervalu for providing refreshments for the players.

Corraleehan Parish Walk – Corraleehan Parish Walk continues each Thursday night at 8.30pm from Corraleehan Church. Community spirit, health, fitness, whatever your goals we will be happy to see everyone.

Lip Sync Legends – Just over seven weeks to go until Showtime on Saturday 17th November in the Landmark Central.  Acts are getting ready for rehearsals starting shortly, there are still a few spots open for prospective Acts if you’d like to get involved please contact any member of Kiltubrid GAA or Kiltubrid LGFA.  Over the next few weeks, each Act will be holding Mini-Fundraisers in advance of the Lip Sync Legends Night. Ultimate Game Show Night – “The Backstreet Boobs” Kiltubrid Seniors Ladies Act are hosting their fundraiser for the Kiltubrid Lip Sync Battle. This will entail an Ultimate Quiz, including Say What You See (Catchphrase), Riddles and Celebrities Quiz.  Special Host on the Night – “Conor McGregor”. The action gets underway at 9pm in Gerties Bar Keshcarrigan on Saturday 6th October.

SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL – Unfortunately, our Seniors Championship came to an end on Sunday last when we were beaten in the semi-final by Aughawillian on a score line of 1.12 to 2.07. As disappointing as Sunday’s result was, we have had some great games over the last few months and a sincere thank you to all the players, the management and everyone involved with the team for your endless time and commitment over the last number of months.  Thanks also to our supporters who came out to support the team. There are brighter days ahead for this team in the not too distant future. Best wishes to both Aughawillian and Mohill in the final.

U16 LADIES – Training continues this Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm in Páirc Naomh Mhuire.

 UNDERAGE ACADEMY – There will be no underage training this Saturday due to the Joe Flynn Tournament and The Patsy Guckian Tournament.

CLUB TOURNAMENTS – Next weekend will be a huge weekend for our club where we remember and honour two of our former greats, Joe Flynn and Patsy Guckian. On sat next 6th Oct we are hosting the inaugural inter club Under 12 Tournament for the Joe Flynn Perpetual Cup. We will have a number of teams competing in 2 competitions for cup and shield.  It commences at 11am in Páirc Naomh Mhuire with the finals due to be played at 2.30approx and it promises to be a great day for the Under 12 teams who are taking part.

On Sunday afternoon the 7th Oct the annual Patsy Guckian tournament will take place in Páirc Naomh Mhuire from 1.30pm sharp.  This tournament is for U8 & U10 girls and for U9 and U11 boys. Once again, this year it will be a great afternoon with refreshments afterwards in the clubhouse followed by the presentation of medals and trophies.

All GAA fans are invited to attend.

Cathal Clancy and Mamie Reilly Tournament – The Cathal Clancy and Mamie Reilly tournament is scheduled for this Sunday 7th. Our U7s will have a mini-game with Cloone also. Games throw in at 1 o’clock followed by refreshments in the community center, all welcome.

U13’s Regional Final –  The U13s regional final was on last Tuesday night in Cloone, Carrick region versus Lough Allen region. We had four players representing our club, all on the starting team Jack Reynolds, Mathew Davis, Luke McManus and Riaghan Ward. After a slow start, we took control of the game and never looked in trouble throughout the rest of the game. We witnessed some fantastic football on the night from both teams. Well done boys and also to Tom Ward who was a coach.

U12 Skills Competition – Well done to  David Liu Doyle, Tommy Reen, George Glaze and Aaron Keighran competing in last Friday evenings skills competition in Kiltubrid. The boys did very well on the night but came up short, well done to Fenagh who came first.

U15 Championship – Our U15s played Kiltubrid in Gortletteragh Friday 21st. After a tough battle we came away with a win. We travelled to Drumkeeran last Sunday for our fifth game of the championship and left with two points in the bag. We play Melvin Gaels at home this Saturday 6th and then we play Sean Ó hEislen away Saturday 13th.

U11 – Our U11s had a great blitz in Bornacoola last Saturday morning. Keep up the good work players and coaches.

Intermediate Championship – Fenagh St Caillins have reached this year’s Leitrim Intermediate Championship final. A powerful second-half display against a gallant Leitrim Gaels team resulted in a two-point victory and sets up a mouth-watering battle with Annaduff at 1pm on Sunday week in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada as the curtain raiser to the Aughawillan v Mohill Leitrim Senior County Final.

County Final preparations – preparations are underway both on and off the field for Sunday weeks final. While we leave the team and management to prepare for the game, we ask our supporters to make a big effort in the lead up to the game to fly the flags, banners and what ever else you can get to have the parish decked out in red and black for the next couple of weeks. An array of Fenagh merchandise, flags, bunting, car flags etc are on display and available for purchase in Corrib Oil at Edentenny.

County Final Fundraiser Draw – a fundraising draw will take place over the County Final weekend with money raised going towards the teams preparations. Entries to the draw are €20 and can be purchased online via our Klubfunder or Facebook pages or alternatively in the Village or by contacting any of the Club Executive. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Junior B Championship Final – this final is expected to take place on Saturday 20th October with Aughawillan the opposition.
Westlink Coaches u15 Championship – our u15’s are in action v Kiltubrid this weekend with the date and time to be confirmed. The lost out on Sunday evening last to Annaduff by 5.04 to 3.03.

Aughawillan Blitz – Special thank to our neighbours Aughawillian on inviting us to their blitz last Saturday. Our u9 and u11 teams took part in a very well organised schedule of games which the players thoroughly enjoyed. Grateful thanks to all the organisers for the excellent welcome and refreshments as well.

Book Launch – “Under the Thatch: Memories of a Longford Childhood” written by our own Seán Ó Súilleabháin will be launched in Ballinamore Community Centre on Tuesday 23 October at 8.30pm. Seán has written about his memories of life in North Longford in the 1950s and 1960s in a most entertaining way. The book will be launched by Ballinamore man, Tommy Moran, and everyone is welcome to attend. Beidh fáilte roimh gach duine.

Connacht GAA Bursary Scheme – Connacht GAA has again reiterated their commitment to the on-going educational development of its players and members by announcing details of the 2018/2019 GAA National Student Bursary scheme. Connacht GAA, in support of the National Student Bursary Scheme, will award bursaries of €750 to students attending Higher Education colleges, closing date for application is the 5th of October and you can download the application form from www.connachtgaa.ie
