Congratulations to the Four Masters School Teams – Congratulation the Four Masters National School Girls and Boys Football teams who won the North Leitrim/South Donegal Shield Finals in Manorhamilton last week. Well done to all the players and coaches. This has been a great achievement by these young girls and boys.

Good Luck to Leitrim – Good Luck to the Leitrim team in the Game against Louth on Saturday at 7pm in Pairc Sean. Special good luck to the Gaels lads, Emlyn, Darrragh and Cillian.

Have You Made Your Mark! – The Club is involved in the fundraising which has started and some of the Committee are calling to all the people of Kinlough and surrounding areas. The support has been very good so far.  Many have nominated loved ones who have had been involved with the Community Centre and the facilities over the years and are no longer with us. This is a nice gesture.  All club members, along with past and present players are asked to support this fundraising venture. The work on Melvin Park will be starting in the next few weeks. The Committee members will get to Tullaghan, Askill, Rossinver, Glenade and Ballintrillick shortly and will be asking everyone to help make this project come true.  The fundraising will involve “Make Your Mark on Melvin Park” for €100 which will represent a square of Melvin Park, entry into a draw, prizes 5x €1000, and your name on a commemorative plaque. FÉILE – Congratulations and a big well done to all involved in Carrick Hurling Club who hostedTourlestrane GAA, Dunboyne GAA and Letterkenny Gael last weekend for the U14Féile Na nGael 2018. Well done to the lads who finished top of their group having won all three games in their group stage.  They played South Kerry hurling on Saturday afternoon in the quarter final in Ballinamore who proved to be a little stronger than the Carrick lads, while this is where Féile 2018 ended for them on the pitch the memories and friendships made over the weekend will stay with them forever.

LEITRIM U20 – Hard luck to Mark Diffley and his Leitrim teammates who were defeated by Mayo in the Connacht U20 Championship in Castlebar on Saturday last.

LCC adopt a road program – We are taking part in Leitrim County Council adopt a road litter maintenance scheme and volunteers are needed to take part in the collection of litter from the roadside next Wednesday 14th June. Anyone interested in helping out please meet at the football pitch in Ballinaglera at 8.15pm.

Seniors – Well done to our seniors who drew with Drumkeerin on 2nd June. Thanks to the Cosy Corner, Drumkeerin for providing refreshments after the game.

Dates for your diary – The Annual Ballinaglera GAA festival takes place this year from Fri 3rd – 12th August. Our committee is working hard putting events in place for another exciting festival.

St Francis U15 boys – Hard luck to St. Francis U-15 team who were defeated by Mohill recently in the county Final. Ballinaglera were represented by Jamie McGrail, Mark Reynolds, Damien Gilmartin and Liam McGourty

LEITRIM GAA – Leitrim got a satisfactory draw on Monday morning last when they were pitted against Louth. The game will be played on the weekend of June 23/ 24 and will be played in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada, Carrick on Shannon, as teams from division four will have home advantage. This is certainly a game that Leitrim will fancy their chances.

DUNNE’S BAR DIV 4 – Our Div 4 team drew with Kiltubrid on Sunday last in Kiltubrid in a high scoring game, with the final score at 2 16 to 1 19.

School league – Well done to Carrigallen national school on winning both school league and school girls finals in Pairc Sean.

U12 – St Joseph’s U12s played St Brigids in Aughavas on Thursday evening in the second round of the Longford-Leitrim league. The teams were tied at halftime but in the second half St Brigids gradually began to dominate and with the help of two late goals in quick succession won out on a final scoreline of St Josephs 3-12 St Brigids 5-14. It was a much-improved performance from St Josephs but St Brigid’s were deserving winners. The schoolboy’s team took part in the Turlough Conefrey Memorial Tournament on Sunday where we lost to Aughavas and had a win against Cloone. Well done to the Aughavas lads who had a good win against Gortletteragh in the final.

 

Div 4 – Our third string was the only adult team in action over the weekend and although not winning against Bornacoola on Sunday morning last, those present were treated to a high scoring game with a lively Bor side just going ahead in the last minute. The panel and scorers was, C Baxter, R Bohan 0-1, K Reilly, S Kilrane, B Kilrane, P Casserly, S Flynn 0-2, J Farrell 0-1, J Boyle 2-1, S Kennedy 0-3, C Beirne 0-1, D Wynne, J McGuinness 0-1, S Canning, T Mulligan 0-1, J Reynolds, J Mulligan 0-1.

 

Under 12s and 11s – These young boys are partaking in the Longford/Leitrim League. They have played Carrick, Killoe and Allen Gaels and this Thursday evening both teams will head to Newtownforbes to play Clonguish Óg, so we wish them well on their travels.

Division 4 –  Our Junior team recorded a hard-fought win over Mohill in the Junior league on Sunday with a final scoreline of Bornacoola 3-11, Mohill 2-12. Mohill had the better of the first half and lead at halftime by four points. Mohill 1-6, Bornacoola 1-2. The Bornacoola goal in the first half was an excellent finish by John (Barnes) Shanley. Mohill started the second half stronger and scored a number of points all of which were cancelled out by points from our lads. Mohill with 10 minutes to go scored a critical goal to leave them seven points up and set for victory. Credit to our lads they lifted their performance and outscored Mohill 2-4 to 0-1 to claim victory at the end. The second half goals coming from Cian Mallon and Tony Shanley. Vital points were also kicked over by Michael Duignan, Kevin Shanley, Jonathan Duffy and Trevor Howard. Mohill responded at the very end with an excellent move and a goal bound shot was deflected over the bar by the combined efforts of David Mulligan and Gerry Gearty to ensure victory for the Bors. The win see the lads still in contention for a league final spot with one game remaining. Under 12 Cross County League – Our under 12s panel travelled to Dromard on Thursday evening in the Longford Leitrim Cross County Competition. We had 18 players togged out. Dromard proved very strong and our young stars of the future struggled to get to grips with the game. The Bors picked up the pace and there were some well worked scores. In the end Dromard came out winners. Team on duty :

Birthday  –  Comhghairdeas to Fr Johnnie who celebrated his 80th birthday on June 9th – a lovely mass was celebrated in Aughnasheelin followed by a hooley in the Community Centre on Friday night June 8th – all who attended enjoyed a great night with lots of goodies and great music and dancing.  A big thank you to all who helped to make the night a memorable one for Fr Johnnie.

Underage – St Joseph’s U12’s played St Brigid’s on Thursday evening in the Longford/Leitrim league; it was a hard fought close game throughout with both teams playing some great football.  Unfortunately a couple of late scores saw us lose out narrowly on this occasion.  Next up is Grattan Gaels in Aughavas.

Tournament – The Turlough Conefrey Memorial Tournament took place on Sunday last, school teams from Aughavas, Cloone, Gortletteragh and Carrigallen took part on a lovely afternoon for football and excellent conditions.  These teams served up a feast of exciting games, one of the most competitive tournaments yet.  It ended with Aughavas and Gortletteragh in the final with both teams playing their hearts out.  Aughavas just edged it to win back the Shield.  Thanks to everyone who helped out in any way to make the day a success.  All proceeds going to charity.

U13 – Mohill area U13 Regional team take on Carrick area this week.  St Joseph’s have 11 boys on this panel.

U20 – Hard luck to Seamus, Fintan & Eoin and the Leitrim U20’s in their Championship game against Mayo.

2018 Kellogg’s Cúl Camps in Leitrim

Aughavas Kellogg’s Cul Camps will take place from Monday 16th July to Friday 20th July. Registration for Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps 2018 is currently underway online via the website, https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/booking/ Please note: The online booking facility will close at noon on the Wednesday preceding the week of the camps. Please be aware that Registrations will NOT be accepted on the first morning of camp. The only method of registration will be via the online link.

Division 3 League – We played St. Mary’s on Sunday in Pairc Naomh Mhuire. We suffered a loss on the day when a clear goal was denied by the man in the middle and suffered the loss of Cian Rock with a broken arm. We learn from the mistakes and move on to the next game. Final Score was 1-18 to 3-5. Swan Bar Division 3 – We travelled to Boggaun on Sunday morning & came away with a good win against Glencar Manorhamilton. We play St. Marys in Carrick on Saturday evening. Best of luck to the lads.

U-12 Cross Border League – The U-12’s began the league last week losing out to Clonguish and a narrow defeat again on Monday evening in Mohill. Many thanks to Leitrim Gaels for the use of their pitch last week. We play St. Marys in Carrick on Thursday evening.

U-11’s – The U-11 boys travelled to Annaduff for a blitz on Saturday morning and had a very enjoyable run out against the home side. Many thanks to Annaduff for refreshments afterwards.

Kellogg’s Cul Camps – Please note that the summer coaching camp takes place in Drumshanbo from July 9th– 13th. Booking should be made online on the Leitrim GAA website.

Lotto – There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last week the numbers drawn were 06-12-22-23.
