League – The lads had another great win on Sunday beating Drumkeeran 6-15 to 3-09. This now means that they are promoted to division 2 league next year, and have booked a place in the division 3 league final. Well done to the players and management who have put in a great effort since the start of the year. Keep up the good work.

Congrats – Congratulations to our club treasurer Claire Faughnan and her husband David Faughnan on the birth of their son Jack. Best of luck to them for the future.

Membership – Membership is now due. It is €25 for the year and can be given to Eamonn Stenson.

U12 Cross Border League = Unfortunately our lads came out the wrong side of the result in a high scoring game away against Granard/Ballymore last Thursday. Next up is a home game on Thursday 14th June against Carrick Sarsfields.
Blitz – Thank you to Leitrim Gaels for hosting us for a U11 blitz between two evenly matched teams in glorious sunshine on Friday evening. We host Allen Gaels for a U9 blitz this Saturday in The Park at 3pm. Please wear gumshields.

Make Your Mark on the Park Development Fundraising – The work of the Community Development Project will be starting very soon. Melvin Gaels Club is assisting with the fundraising which has started. All Club members, ex-club members, players, and ex-players are asked to help in the fundraising which will involve “Make Your Mark on Melvin Park” for €100 which will represent a square of Melvin Park, entry into a draw, prizes 5x €1000, your name on a commemorative plaque. Members of the Development are calling to all houses in the area and will be asking for support and will discuss the project with everyone. It is well known that the facilities at Kinlough are not up to the standards needed to facilitate the Melvin Gaels Club. The Club has been successful over the years on the playing field and we want the facilities planned in this project to match this success. With the help of all the Community this can happen!

Sympathy – The Club extends sympathy to the Hill Family, Askill on the death of Patricia’s brother, Joseph Mc Shea, Belleek. May he rest in peace.

 

Men’s Football – There are no games this upcoming weekend for the men’s teams. Our first team were scheduled to play Glencar-Manorhamilton in a round of football for all clubs to play without their county players, but the full round of fixtures have been rescheduled to play with their county players at a later date.

Division 3 Men – Our Junior team played away to, league leaders, Eslin on Sunday. They suffered a hard defeat 6-15 to 3-09. A high scoring game that was very entertaining. The result also guarantees Eslin a league final and leaves our Junior team unlikely to finish second to play them again in a final. Their final home game is currently fixed for the weekend of the 23rd of June but there will be full confirmation next week and on our social media pages in the days coming up to it.

Lotto – This week’s Lotto numbers drawn were 8, 15, 19, 21. There was no jackpot winner of €3500. The five €20 winners were Finian Redican, Margaret Patrick & Thomas McPartlan, Shane McGuire, Rita Feeney, Paddy McPadden. Thank you for your continued support.

U12 Girls – Our young ladies are out vs Bornacoola this Wednesday, 13th of June, at 7:30pm in Dromod. Come out and support our future and best of luck to all involved.

Exam season – Well done so far, and best of luck, to all Leaving Cert and Junior Cert students with their remaining exams.

Under 12 League – The under 12 team continued their Longford Leitrim Leauge with two more wins over the last week. On Thursday their emerged winners against Gortleteragh 4-09 to 1-07 and on Monday eveing they had a big win over Bornacoola 8-15 to 2-08. They play St Vincents away tomorrow Thursday at 7:30 in Drumlish. They started their Longford Leitrim league on Thursday evening when they hosted Wolfe tones from Longford. They showed they true skill and passon and came out winners 6-06 to 2-06. They are way to Gortletheragh tomorrow evening Thursday at 7:30pm. They are out again on Monday evening, hosting Bornacoola in Leitrim at 7:30pm.

Monster Draw – Tickets are now on sale for our monster draw. With prizes of a Bathroom/kitchen fit out worth €2500, €500 holiday voucher, overnight stay in the Lough Erne resort, All Ireland and Rugby tickets, and numerous other cash prizes. Tickets are €10 each or 3 for €20.

Under 20’s – the county under 20’s were knocked out of the Connaught championship on Saturday. The club was well represented on the team with Narada Protrasco, Stephen Mc Dermott, Donal Moreton, Patrick Flynn and Shaun Chandler.

Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp Registration – Registration for Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps 2018 is currently underway online via the website, https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/booking/ . Please note: The online booking facility will close at noon on the Wednesday preceding the week of the camps. This year and going forward, Registrations will NOT be accepted on the first morning of camp. Registration can be completed using the online facility above, or through your local GAA club, at the club registration evening, which will be held in all clubs on Tuesday 30/5/17 at 7pm. The club registration evening will be co-ordinated by the club-coaching officer. COST: €60 for 1st child. €50 for 2nd child. €40 for 3rd and subsequent children. The camp will take place in Leitrim Gaels Community field from 23rd – 27th July.

Div 4 – Our division 4 team took part in a thrilling game against Cloone in our pitch on Sunday. In a game where both teams were able to find plenty of space and play good attacking football, it was only fair that it ended a draw with a scoreline of Kiltubrid 1-18 to Cloone 2-15. Well done to all involved.

Special Olympics – The Olympic torch arrived in St Bridget’s NS Kiltubrid on Monday 11th of June with members of the South Leitrim club, Supporters, volunteers, families all attending. The Pupils and teachers of St Bridgets fundraised for Leitrim’s clubs and this was their reward.

Comhbhrón – Everyone at the club would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the late Carmel McTeague who sadly passed away on last week. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Carmel’s family and friends at this difficult time. Go ndéana Dia trócaire uirthi.

CONGRATULATIONS – Congratulations to Mohill under 15’s who won the fifteen aside Championship beating Allen Gaels on a scoreline of 5 12 to 3 08 The panel included six Cloone players. Well done to the team and management.

SPEEDY RECOVERY – Wishing our Clubman Joe Shannon, a speedy recovery.  We all look forward to meeting Joe out and about again in the very near future.

Jimmy Conboy RIP – We extend deepest sympathy to the Conboy family on the death of Jimmy last week. Jimmy played underage with Mohill and he was Captain of the Under 14 team that won the Championship in 1962. He was brother of Josie and Francie, uncle of Maureen McCrann Convent Road, and many more nieces and nephews all involved with Mohill GAA. Ar dheis láimh Dé go raibh sé

Under 15 – Congratulations to the Under 15 team that got the better of Allen Gaels on Friday last and were worthy winners of the League. The game was very competitive until the last 20 minutes when Mohill’s strength and fitness told and they were comfortable winners in the end.

Div 1 – A draw was a fitting result for Mohill’s game with Melvin Gaels in Kinlough on Saturday evening last. Scorers were, K Beirne 0-4, R Kennedy 1-1, F McGuinness 0-1, K Keegan 0-1, D Flynn 0-1, S Harkin 0-1, E Harkin 0-1, S Quinn 0-1

Div 2 – A great display by our very young second string on Sunday morning last against Kiltubrids first team, only two points separated the teams at the final whistle. Panel and scorers was, C Baxter, R Bohan, K Reilly, S Harkin, K Flynn, P Casserly 0-1, P O Neill. Under 12 – Both the Under 12s and Under 11s suffered defeats by St Mary’s in the Longford / Leitrim League on Thursday evening. They play Killoe in Killoe on Thursday next so better luck there.

Local Hero – Congratulations to Ryan Jones our local chemist in C&D Chemists who played a captain’s part in Fermanagh’s shock win over Monaghan.

Division 1 – Well done to the lads on a 2-13 to 0-15 win over Aughawillan at the weekend. No Division 1 game this weekend.

Leitrim U20 – The Leitrim U20 play Mayo in Castlebar on Saturday with a place in the Connacht Final at stake. Best of luck to all involved.

School Boy Success – Congratulations and well done to our schoolboys who won their cup final last Tuesday evening in Páirc Seán beating Aughnasheelin. From start to finish we controlled the game. Aughnasheelin couldn’t get a grip of our running and movement of our players. We had great performances from David Liu Doyle in goals, Luke McManus and George Glaze in defense, Jack Reynolds (C) and Mathew Davis in midfield and Riaghan Ward, Senan Curran, Noah McNulty, Tomás Hynes and John McGoldrick up front. Well done boys. The parents, boys and school would like to thank Jack Reynolds’ grandmother for sponsoring food after the game, thank you Anne.

U12 Cross Border League – Our U12s had their first Longford/ Leitrim game last Thursday evening versus Bornacoola in Dromod.  The teams were evenly matched, it was end to end from start to finish. This game had everything from great goals, point taking, running, defending, tackling and goalkeeping. After a very exciting game Gortletteragh came out on top. It’s great to see Gortletteragh fielding an all boys team at 13 aside. We play Leitrim Gaels this Thursday evening at home at 7:30. Thanks to Bornacoola for refreshments after the game on such a hot evening.

U11 – Our U11s travelled to Fenagh for their blitz last Tuesday. . We had a break over the bank holiday weekend. We’ll be back in action next week.
