5K Walk – Why not come out and join with Glencar Manorhamilton GAA Club in association with Get Ireland Walking and Operation Transformation for our 5k walk starting this Thursday 17th January at 7pm for 6 weeks. Each participant must register at the Dressing Rooms in the Bee Park before each walk. We look forward to welcoming you all on the night.  Let’s do this together!

Fair Play Ado – Our former senior footballer Adrian O’Flynn is doing a one minute swim in the lake/sea every day in January to raise much needed funds for our new pitch development.  Check out our Facebook Page for the very amusing videos and to see how you can support.  We commend Adrian for coming up with this initiative, for braving the cold waters on our behalf and to everyone for who is supporting him and our club by making very generous donations.

Club Awards Night – Our club awards night will take place on Saturday 16th February at 8pm in the Bee Park Community Centre. More details to follow.

Registration Night – We will be holding our two Registration Nights for all players and supporters to pay their membership for the 2019 season on Friday 8th and Friday 15th of February from 6.30 to 8pm upstairs in the Gym at St Clare’s Comprehensive School.  All club players must pay their membership before the last day of February in order to train and play with the club.
 
2019 Membership Rates – Membership rates for the 2019 season are as follows:  U10 Girls & Boys –  €30 for 1st Child & remaining family members at this age group €20 each. U11 Boys – €30, U12 to U18 Girls – €40, U13 to U18 Boys -€40, Adult Players – €80 and Social Members – €30. A family membership rate of €120 max per family has been introduced for the coming season.  This applies to families who are registering their juvenile players who are under the age of 18 and the parents/guardians.
Heinz Beans Tokens – We are asking our club members and all underage parents to collect Heinz Beans tokens. If we have enough tokens our underage boys and girls teams could benefit with sports kits. The closing date is the 15th February, 2019.
Old Club Jerseys – We are looking for people to search out their wardrobes, garages and attics in search of old club jerseys which were used by our adult and juvenile football and hurling teams in the club (male and female) in the following decades – the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s.  They are needed for our 50th club celebrations.  Please contact Collette Fox asap on 0866020192 if you can assist.
Ladies Club History – In preparation for our club’s 50th anniversary in 2019, the ladies club are looking to dig out all old photos, match programmes, newspaper clippings or any other club memorabilia to help prepare a detailed history of the history of the ladies club. ‘Ireland Lights Up – Well done to everyone that took part in Sunday’s operation transformation walk and special thanks to the guys for providing the refreshments at the end. Scór na nÓg Quiz – Our Trath na gCeist team of Eoin Connaughton, Eoin Hamill, Bernard Sweeney and Brian Sweeney had a great day in Claremorris on Sunday at the Connacht Scor, they did not win but the experience was invaluable and will help prepare them for the all Ireland finals on the 16th of February in Castlebar. Special thanks to all of the team members and also to our super subs Niamh Christe and Lizzie O Connell who are an integral part of the team and also to Sean and Brid for their support and help with preparing the team for the competitions. Annaduff Ladies – Annaduff Ladies will be having their Dinner Dance and presentation of their Junior medals on the 1st February in Cox’s Steak House, Dromod. Connacht Scór Na nÓg Finals – Hard luck to our Set dancers – Anna Crossley, Caoimhe Mooney, Aobhlinn Maxwell, Ailíse Maxwell, Katie Faughnan, Eimear Healy, Claire and Laura Flannagan in the Connacht finals on Sunday last in Claremorris. Disappointing to come away with no medals but they danced very well and were delighted with their performance.

AGM – The second part of our Club AGM to fill the vital rolls took place on Sunday last. With a better turnout all the positions were filled.

Thanks to all who turned out. It is hoped following on from the meeting that more people will get involved from our Parish/ Community with the Parish lotto among other jobs. The BT Young Scientist Awards – Massive congratulation’s to Erica Ridge, Hugh and Darragh Boyce transition year students in Mohill Community College who scooped 1st place in their category of behavioural science in the RDS last week on their project of decreasing childhood obesity. Erica when not in school works in the family restaurant, Coxs Steakhouse, Dromod and Hugh and Darragh work in their family restaurant, The Brandywell Restaurant also in Dromod. A big problem for our young people today more than ever. Well done and congratulations on your award!!

Aughawillan Lights Up – The GAA, in conjunction with Operation Transformation, aim to promote exercise in the safe environment of the local GAA pitch. This year, Aughawillan are taking part in the ‘Ireland Lights Up’ programme, by turning on the lights at the football field, every Tuesday from 7 until 9, for the next five weeks (January 15th until February 19th). We hope this encourages lots of members of the community to come out and stretch the legs after a long winter. Everyone is welcome, whether your aim is to get more active or to meet with your friends and neighbours more. We hope as many people as possible take this opportunity to stay active & social as Spring approaches! Spread the word and bring a friend!

National Draw – The National draw tickets are on sale locally from committee members, senior players and local Businesses. They cost €10 each with fantastic prizes. Carrick Hurling – The club wishes Liam, Colm, Enda Donal Moreton, Mark Breheny, Stephen Goldrick, Declan Deegan and Carrick Hurling team and management the best of luck in the All Ireland Club semi-final against Castleblaney take Sunday next in Cusack Park Mullingar at 2pm. Underage Training – It is hoped to start back training 22nd January, the league for Under 13 & 17 provisionally starting 16th February.

Leitrim GAA Supporters Club – The Annual Fundraising Draw will be launched on Thursday night January 17th in Croke Park. Doors open at  7pm with the event getting underway 7.30pm sharp. Light refreshments will be served during the interval. A special draw will take place for those who buy a Supporters Club ticket or take a booklet to sell. The night will conclude at 10 pm. Leitrim Person of the Year Seamus O’Rourke is the special guest and new Leitrim senior manager Terry Hyland will be interviewed. Best of luck – Best of luck to the Leitrim ladies County Board who formed a new committee at the special meeting held in our club rooms on Saturday evening last. A special word to our club representatives Aidan Heron who took the role of Chairperson & also to Ann Flood who is on the fixtures committee.

Lotto – There was no Jackpot winner in the Lotto on Saturday 12th January; the numbers drawn were 6-7-4-0-5-3-2-1.  €30 winners on the night were Barry Taylor, Caroline Harte, Kathleen Brady, Mary O’Brien and Damie Masterson.  The House prize sponsored by the Dugout was won by Gemma Kiernan. The next Lotto draw will be on Saturday 26th January with St Joseph’s ladies hosting the draw. The Jackpot now stands at €12,600.

Fundraising Draw – Our annual fundraising draw will take place next Saturday 19th January in the Dugout at 10pm. Tickets are €20 each or a book of three for €50. 1st Prize €3,000, 2nd Prize €1,000 and 5 prizes of €100.  Tickets are available from all Club Officers. The annual fundraising tickets can also be purchased online – check out the Aughavas GAA Facebook page and follow the link. There is an opportunity for Tickets Sellers to drop back sold tickets on Friday night to the Clubrooms between 9:45 – 10:15pm or on the night of the draw before 10pm.  Good Luck to all.

Training – Training will commence on Friday night next for all Senior Players under new Joint Management of Mick Fitzpatrick and Fintan McBrien at 8:30pm.  A full attendance is expected.
