St. Francis Ladies – The Victorious Intermediate Ladies team received their winner’s medals at their dinner dance last Saturday night, also congrats to Mairead McCauley who received the player of the year award

Sympathy – The club extends our deepest sympathy to the Smith Family, Ashdale on the sad passing of Alison’s mother Mary who passed away last week in Dublin.

Engagement – Congrats to St. Francis ladies player Stephanie Reynolds and Ronan Gallagher who announced their engagement recently.

25 Card Drive – The card game continues in Aras Padraig every Sunday night at 8:30pm. All welcome.

LOTTO – The next Lotto draw will be run by the Player’s Team which will be held in “The Dugout” on Saturday 8thDecember.  Jackpot is €12,300. Lotto envelopes €2 each or three envelopes for €5.

SCOR NA NOG – We had great representation at the Scor Na Nog County Final in Drumshanbo on Sunday last.  Thanks to all the children who took part.  Rince Forine:  Edel McKiernan, Aoife McKiernan, Bradley Cowdell, Tori Cowdell, Mark McDermott, Conor Shortt, Caitlyn McIntyre and Sarah Green.  Ceoil Uirlise: Caoimhe Maguire and Padraig Maguire. Amhranaiocht Aonair: Michaela Mitchell.  In the Trath Na Ceist we had two teams with Team A coming in 3rd place:  Jack McIntyre, Eanna McNamara, Caoimhe Maguire and Sarah Greene.  Team B:  Adrian Shortt, Padraig Maguire, Aaron Moran and Shafik Ouibihi.

U16 Girls Championship Final – Unfortunately the scheduled Cup Final against Ballinamore did not place last Sunday as the pitch in Leitrim Village was deemed unplayable due to torrential rain just before throw in.  It was certainly disappointing for both teams and their supporters but with player welfare of paramount importance – the right call was made.  No details as yet of the re-fixture but do keep an eye on our Facebook Page.  We wish Tommy, Martin, Dolores, Christina and all the girls the very best of luck.  Please show your support to them on County Final Day.

Old Club Jerseys – We are looking for people to search out their wardrobes, garages and attics in search of old club jerseys which were used by our adult and juvenile football and hurling teams in the club (male and female) in the following decades – the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s.  They are needed for our 50th club celebrations.  Please contact Collette Fox asap on 0866020192 if you can assist.

Heinz Beans Tokens – We are asking our club members and all underage parents to collect Heinz Beans tokens. If we have enough tokens our underage boys and girls teams could benefit with sports kits. The closing date is the 15th February, 2019.

Club Lotto – The Glencar Manor Club Lotto draw took place in Killasnett Co Op on 27/11/18.  Numbers drawn 6, 13, 18, 28.  There was no winner of the jackpot of €4,600. The winners of €30 were Geraldine Glancy – yearly ticket (Cornastalk), Pat Dolan (Newtownmanor), Marian Higgins (Manorhamilton), Sean Meehan (Clooneen), Mary Gilhooley (Park Road).  The Jackpot now stands at €4,675. Christmas Lights – Manorhamilton is certainly dazzling with Christmas Lights – full credit to all concerned.

New Arrival – Many congrats to Bridget and Paul Clancy on the safe arrival of their baby boy Cathal recently.

Club Academy/U9s/U11s – Our Club Football Academy, U9 and U11 training will take place this Friday night at St Clare’s Comprehensive School. Times will be notified to parents.

Match for Mark – The annual Match for Mark game between St Mary’s of Sligo and Glencar/Manorhamilton returns again this year on St Stephen’s Day.  Keep the date free, dust down the boots and see you in Kent Park for what has always been a great social occasion and opportunity to support a local charity in memory of St Mary’s and Glencar Manor’s former player Mark Rooney.  Details are being finalised and full fixture details will be issued shortly.

Engagement – We offer hearty congrats to our former senior player Adrian O’Flynn and his girlfriend Amy Brick who announced their engagement recently.  We wish Adrian and Amy many years of health and happiness together.

Sympathy – We offer heartfelt sympathy to Berni McManus (Glenfarne) and her family following the sad passing of her father Larry McGrath, Lacoon, Glenfarne.  We also extend our deepest sympathies to Niamh Clancy and the Clancy family, Tullaghan following the very sad passing of David Clancy, Tullaghan.  May their gentle souls rest in peace.

Ladies Club History – In preparation for our club’s 50th anniversary in 2019, the ladies club are looking to dig out all old photos, match programmes, newspaper clippings or any other club memorabilia to help prepare a detailed history of the history of the ladies club. AGM – Our Annual General Meeting takes place on Sunday 9th December in the Rainbow Glenfarne at 3pm. Dinner Dance – We are holding a dinner dance on January 5th in Rainbow Glenfarne to celebrate the lads achievements and that of the club. We will have former Kerry legend and RTE GAA Pundit Pat Spillane in attendance on the night. Tickets will be on sale next week.

Sympathy – The club extends it’s deepest sympathy to the McGrath & McManus families on the death of Larry McGrath & to the Cullen family on the death of Philomena Cullen. May their gentle souls rest in peace.

Concussion Management – Updated Concussion Management Guidelines for Gaelic Games for your reference. This is the first time there is a common guidelines document between the three associations which will help with awareness and promotion of the key messages and recommendations in relation to concussion identification, treatment and return to play protocols. The guidelines, including other complimentary resources are also available on https://learning.gaa.ie/Concussion  An awareness and education campaign will be rolled out by all three associations in 2019.

The Late David Clancy – There was shock and sadness in the Club and wider community at the news of the sad and tragic death of David Clancy, Agharrow, Tullaghan last week. David played for Melvin Gaels and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The Club extends deepest sympathy to all David’s family, relatives and many friends. May he rest in peace.

Get Your Mark on Melvin Park – It is very important that all Club Members help with the fundraising needed to complete the work on Melvin Park. Anyone who has not yet contributed is asked to do so as soon as possible. Contact any member of the Development Committee to purchase your ”Mark” and ensure that the Club will have the facilities everyone can be proud of. The support has been very good so far. The fundraising will involve “Make Your Mark on Melvin Park” for €100 which will represent a square of Melvin Park, entry into a draw, prizes 5x €1000, and your name on a commemorative plaque. Lights On – The lights will be on at the Training Pitch every evening from 4pm to 9pm as a Health Initiative so that the Community can make use of them on the dark evenings.

Medal Presentation –  All-StarRory Beggan will be presenting the victorious U-12, U-13 and U-15 teams with their much deserving Championship medals at our presentation evening on Sunday 16th of December.
Please come and join our celebrations, get to meet this year’s All-Star Rory Beggan and our own young stars of the future on what’s promised to be a fun filled evening, with refreshments served.

Club Draw 2019 – Our Annual Fundraising Draw is our main fundraising initiative every year and the 2019 draw will be one of our biggest in recent years. A massive €5000 is up for grabs as a first prize, which would definitely be a great way to round off the Winter. Other prizes in the 2019 draw include 2nd: €500 3rd: €200 Voucher for Spirit Clothing & Menswear, Longford. 4th: €100 sponsored by Costello Auto Repair, Tooman 5th: €100 sponsored by Colum Fox. Tickets are priced at €20 and are currently on sale from club officers and players.

AGM – Kiltubrid GAA AGM for 2018 will take place on Friday 14th December at 8pm in the Club Rooms.  With lots of progress on and off the field in 2018 and more planned for 2019 a big turnout of new and familiar faces is required.

SCÓR NA NÓG 2018 – It was another fantastic day for the club at scór na nÓg in Drumshanbo on Sunday afternoon with St. Mary’s winning overall club of the year.  Congratulations to our figure dancers Emma Morgan, Áine Morgan, Nicole Glancy, Grace Duignan, Rhianna Ward, Kaneisha Beirne, Sienna Beirne and Thomas Connorton, to Michael Connorton with his recitation and to our ballad group consisting of Ava Brogan, Roisin Noone, Elsie Harman, Eleanor Smith and Rionach Nic Conmara who all came first in their categories and will go on to represent Leitrim in Connacht in January. It was wonderful to have 39 participants from our club all representing St. Mary’s to a very high standard.  Well done to all who took part and best wishes to all who go onto Connacht.

Bord na nÓg AGM – The club Bord na nÓg AGM took place on Friday last the 30th November in the clubhouse.  Thanks to everyone who attended.

BERNARD MURRAY WALK/RUN – Please keep the date free in your diary as we come together to support the Murray family and celebrate the memory of Bernard, a dear friend, colleague and loyal community man with the annual Bernard Murray 5K memorial walk/run on Thursday 27th December. Registration from 11am, starts at 12.30pm. All proceeds go to charity.

Dinner Dance – Many thanks to everyone who attended and supported our dinner dance last Saturday and to everyone who kindly donated spot prizes for the raffle on the night (more details next week). Leitrim Sports Awards – Congratulations to all the award winners at the Leitrim sports awards held recently, especially our neighbours Glenfarne Kiltyclogher who were joint winners of club of the year, Drumshanbo Vocational school who were crowned Sports school of the year, unsung hero winner Dessie Doyle from Drumshanbo, overallsportspersonn of the year Dearbhla Rooney and Hall of fame winner Tommy Moran.

Girls U16 Final – Our final Vs Dromahair is fixed for Sunday, 9th of December. The game will be played in St Osnats, Glencar, at 2:30pm.
