Intermediate Championship – the lads played Fenagh in Pairc Sean last weekend suffering a loss of 1-06 to 0-7 pts. An early goal was a real blow to the team but they battled hard from that point onwards. We wish Colm Clarke a speedy recovery, a man that’s never down long. The lads will play Eslin in the Quarter Finals of the Championship this Sunday, 16th September. The game is in Ballinamore at 12 midday, it’s the most important game of the year for the lads and a big turnout will be needed to beat this Eslin team who’ve found scoring easy this year. Proposed club trip to Dundalk Races on the evening of Friday November 9th Everyone welcome to join us for a nite of fun and entertainment. It is also planned to spend the Saturday in Belfast shopping and sightseeing, and return to Drumkeerin Saturday night. We would encourage everyone to come along. U15 Championship – hard luck to our young men who suffered a tough defeat to a very good Annaduff team Tuesday last week. They have two games this upcoming weekend, the first they are away to Kiltubrid this Friday, 14th September. The game is in Kiltubrid at 6:30pm. The second game they are home to St Joesphs on Sunday at 5pm. Best of luck to all involved

U11 Go Game Blitz – best of luck to our under 11s who are out this Saturday, at 10am, in their blitz tournament and best of luck to their new managers Patrick McPartlan and Finian.

Drumkeeran Festival Committee – well done to the Festival Committee on another successful year of the Drumkeeran festival. We’re already looking forward to next year’s, it’s something that can’t be missed in the calendar.

Lyp Sync Legends – Just over Two Months to go until Showtime on Saturday 17th November in the Landmark Central.  Acts are getting ready for rehearsals starting shortly.  Over the next few weeks each Act will be holding a Mini-Fundraiser in advance of the Lyp Sync Legends Night.  Please keep an eye on Local and Social Media for upcoming details of the Acts taking part and their Fundraising Events.

 Smith Monument’s Intermediate Championship – We finished out the Round Robin Stage with a 2 Point defeat to Eslin after a close encounter played in Ballinamore last Sunday.  We now take on Fenagh St Caillin’s in the Quarter Final on Saturday 15th September at 5.15pm in Ballinamore.  Your continued great support for the lads would be greatly appreciated.

U15 Boys – Our Un15 Boys got their Championship up and running with a win over Melvin Gaels last week at Home.  They then took on Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s away last Monday but came out second best despite a great start to the game.  Next up is Drumkerrin on Friday 14th September at 6.30pm in Kiltubrid.

Smith Monumental Intermediate Championship – a win over Drumkeeran, 1.06 to 0.07, in our final group game means that we now play neighbours Kiltubrid in the quarter finals. This game is fixed for Ballinamore on Saturday evening next at 5.15pm.

Westlink Coaches u15 Championship – our u15 team travelled to Bundoran on Monday evening to take on Melvin Gaels losing out by 5.11 to 7.01. Next up is Sean O’Heslins in Pairc Sean O’Laodain on Friday evening at 6.30pm.
Lotto – the results of our most recent lotto draw – the jackpot was €2800.There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners on the night were a clean sweep for Corrabarrick – Agnes Kilkenny, Bernie McLoughlin and Peter Kilkenny. Under 17 Champions – On Saturday the Under 17 team put in a great second half performance to win the Under 17 Championship in Pairc Sean. This was a great achievement by this group of young lads. There was great excitement when the team arrived back in Kinlough on Saturday afternoon. The final score was Melvin Gaels 2-11, Rinn Gaels 1-11. Well done to all the lads and mentors Gareth and David and everyone who helped. Congratulations to Caolin Clancy on his “Man of the Match” award.

Seniors in the Quarter Finals – The Seniors took on Aughnasheelin in Drumshanbo on Saturday evening in the last game in the round series and came away with a great win and a place in the Senior Championship Quarter Finals. This game was played in difficult conditions and the Gaels trailed by two points at the break. They upped their performance in the second half and scored some great points to get the win they deserved in the end. Final score Melvin Gaels 0-11, Aughnasheelin 0-9. They now take on Aughawillan in the quarter final at 4.30pm on Sunday next. Well done to all the players and mentors. Improvements to Facilities – More Fundraising ideas are needed to help with the badly needed improvements to the facilities available to the Club.  The drainage of Melvin Park is almost completed and funds are needed badly and it will take a lot to complete Phase 1 of the project, which is a realignment of the carpark wall and draining and realignment of the playing. It is an exciting and ambitious project which will cost in excess of €200,000 but it is urgently needed. More Club members and players are needed to help. The support has been very good so far. The fundraising will involve “Make Your Mark on Melvin Park” for €100 which will represent a square of Melvin Park, entry into a draw, prizes 5x €1000, and your name on a commemorative plaque. The Late James Clancy – The Club extends deepest sympathy to the wife, family, relatives and friends of James Clancy, Millbrook, Kinlough who passed away last week. James’s sons and grandsons are very much involved with the Club. May he rest in peace.

Intermediate Championship – The intermediate finished off the group stages with a win over Cloone on Sunday last. The team are through to the quarter final which takes this Sunday next against Ballinamore in Pairc Sean at 6pm. Thanks to all the supporters who got behind the team in the group games and we hope to hear you again on Sunday. Under 15 Championship – The under 15 team started their championship on Tuesday evening last week and lost out narrowly to Glencar Manorhamilton. They suffered another loss to the hands of Mohill on Monday evening. They play St Brigids at home in Leitrim at 6:30 pm on Friday.

Under 17 Championship – Well done to the under 17 team and management team of Joe Casey, Benny Mc Loughlin and Johnny Donnegan who finished off the year by winning the shield final recently.

Go Games – Our underage teams are travelling to Croke Park on Sunday 23rd September to participate in go game. For further information, contact Aidan Flynn.

Fundraiser – The club are running a number of fundraisers over the next few months to help funding for all teams from underage up to Adult level. On Friday night 21st September, there is a table quiz in Carty’s lock 17 starting a 9pm. Table of 4 €40. There will be a Poker Night on Friday 19th October in Leitrim Marina Hotel.

Well done to the Garadice Gaels u11 team who defeated Dernacrieve Gaels 12 points to 6 points in the final of the Swanlinbar u11 Tournament.

Senior Championship – We lost out to Glencar Manorhamilton in the last round of group games on Saturday evening in Pairc Sean on a scoreline of 0-16 to 1-08. The 5 point losing margin was enough to see us through to the quarter final where we will face defending champions Mohill. The game is in Pairc Sean at 4:30pm on Saturday so best of luck to Sean, Paddy, Angus & the squad.

St. Francis Ladies – The ladies had a good win over Fenagh in the intermediate championship semi final last Saturday morning in Ballinamore. Mohill will provide the opposition in the final on the weekend of September 30th. Best of luck to Paul, Gareth & the panel.

U-15’s – They lads kicked off the championship with a good win away to Dromahair last Tuesday & then followed it up with a victory over St. Marys last Monday evening in the park on a scoreline of 0-14 to 1-06. A scoring burst just after half time with some great long range point taking was the difference.  We have a bye in the next so good luck to Farrell, Angus and the team in the remaining matches.

Championship – Well done to the lads on another great win in the Smith Monumentals IFC on Sunday last beating Kiltubrid 1-12 to 1-10 in a very entertaining game. This result means we topped the group and now face Drumkeeran in the quarter final which takes place in Ballinamore on Sunday 16th at 12pm. Best of luck to the players and management. We had great support on Sunday, so  lets hope ye can all come out again this Sunday and cheer the lads on.

Sympathy –
The club would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the family of Attracta Mc Manus (nee) Mc Grath, Stuck, Eslin who died recently. May her soul rest in peace.

Fixtures – The Intermediate Relegation semi-final will take place against our neighbours Carrigallen on Saturday 15th Sept at 4:00pm in Cloone. This is a crucial game for Aughavas and a huge support would be appreciated to get behind the lads for this local derby.

Junior final DVD – This DVD is on sale in Loughlin’s shop, Dowra for €10. A great memory to have and to watch back in years to come.

 

Senior & Junior Championships – Well done to our Senior team who have qualified for the Quarter Finals of the Connacht Gold Leitrim Senior Football Championship.  They defeated Allen Gaels by 5 points (1-8 to 0-16) on Saturday evening in their last group game.  All roads lead to Páirc Seán this Saturday evening for the Quarter Finals when the team face Ballinamore SOH at 6pm.  It’s knock-out from here on in so all support would be greatly appreciated by the team. Hard luck to our Junior B team who bowed out of the Pyramid Bookmakers Junior B Championship at the weekend with Aughawillan defeating them 2-9 to 1-6 in the quarter-final playoffs in Drumshanbo.  Our Junior A team have been drawn against Carrigallen in the semi-finals of the Pyramid Bookmakers Junior A Championship and that fixture will take place on the weekend of the 22nd/23rd September.

50th Celebration – On the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2019 we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our great club. Events will be run throughout the weekend so do be sure to keep it free in your diaries. We hope it will be a gathering of the many people at home and abroad who down through the years represented, officiated, sponsored and supported Glencar Manor. This is an open invitation to everyone who has or had an association with us from 1969 to the present day. More details to follow.

Club Academy – Our Club Football Academy takes place every Friday evening in the Bee Park from 6.30 to 7.30pm.

Sympathy – We offer sympathy to the following families in our community who were recently bereaved.  The McGoey family following the passing of Jimmy McGoey, Castle Street, Manorhamilton, the Clancy Family Manorhamilton following the death of their sister Margaret Cunningham (nee Clancy) in Kilkeel, County Down.  Enda and Shane Healy and the extended Healy and Kelly families following the passing of Maggie Healy, Amorset.  Maggie was a huge part of our community and a great supporter of our club supporting her sons when they played for us and the many events we ran down through the years.  She will be greatly missed by many, many people.  May their gentle souls Rest In Peace.

U9 and U11 Blitzes – Our U9s had a very enjoyable blitz against Dromahair on Friday evening last in Dromahair.  Many thanks to the Dromahair Club for their hospitality.  The U11s have a home blitz against Leitrim Gaels this Saturday.

U15 Boys – Our U15 boys commenced championship action on Tuesday 4th September away to Leitrim Gaels and were fully deserving of their 3-11 to 5-12 win in a very entertaining and competitive game of football.  They play Dromahair this Tuesday (11th September) at 6.30 in Boggaun in Round 2 and St Mary’s away on Friday (14th September) at 6.30 in Round 3.  We wish the team and management continued success and urge support to the team.

Minor Girls – Well done to our Minor girls who defeated Fenagh/Kiltubrid in their last group game in the championship.  The result sees them qualify for the championship final against St Felim’s with fixture TBC.

U8/U10 Girls – Training continues for the U10 girls on Wednesday evenings 6-7pm. New members welcomed every week.

Get Well – We wish Gavin Reynolds a speedy recovery from a very serious injury he received during the championship match on Sunday last. Gavin was hospitalised as a result of the injury, hopefully, he will be out soon and on the road to recovery
