Wedding Bells – Heartiest congratulations to our club chairman Liam Reynolds and Maeve Reynolds Annaduff who were married in Annaduff church on Friday last. On behalf of the club we would like to wish you both the very best for the future and a long and happy life together. It won’t be much of a change for Maeve to be supporting the Blue and Gold rather than the Purple and Gold.

SYMPATHY – The club would like to extend its sympathy to Brennan family Drumlegga, the Reynolds family Annaghbrennan and the extended Mitchel family on the recent death of Nancy Mitchel Trean Gortletteragh.

WEEKEND ACTION – We had mixed fortunes at the weekend with our intermediate team well and truly beaten by Drumreilly on Saturday evening, and our junior team beating Bornacoola in the Park on Sunday morning. On Saturday evening we travelled to Drumreilly for our second match in the Dunne’s Bar Div 2 league but were comprehensively beaten on a score line of Drumreilly 4 09 Cloone 1 08. Compliments to Drumreilly  GAA club  on the excellent facilities at their club grounds. On Sunday morning we had a better outing when our junior team defeated Bornacoola in the Park on a score line of Cloone 1 17 Bornacoola 0 08. Margaret McGarry RIP  – We extend deepest sympathy to Club Officer Claire McLoughlin on the death of her mother Margret last week. Margaret was also mother-in-law of Club Chairman Padraig McLoughlin and grandmother to players Alan and Darren McLoughlin. The deceased worked as a matron in Árus Ó Carolan for many years. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh sí.

Under 17  – Last week this young team met Ballinamore but once again they were beate, this time by a strong Ballinamore team. A lot of these lads are Under 15, so let’s hope we have better days ahead. The panel was, S Moran, L Ellis, G Reynolds,  C Quinn 0-3, J Murphy, C Keegan, N McNabola, S Bohan 0-1, N Keegan C Keegan, F Cassells 0-2 C White, D McCrann, A Nitche C Wauhua.

Under 13 – These lads have qualified for the Semi-final of the Div 1 15 aside and the Reserve 13 aside when they had two fine wins against a dogged Dromahaire in freezing wet, conditions last week. At this age group we have plenty of players with 24 boys travelling and some big names missing with injury and holidays. Scorers in both matches were, Matthew Murphy 2-8, Aaron McCrann 2-1, Senan Curran 1-0, Jack Rowley 0-1, Evan Kilrane 0-1, Daniel Beirne 2-2, Thomas Casey 1-1, Blaine McCrann 0-1, Patrik Coka 0-1. The semis are on Thursday next but check fixtures.

Div 1 League – The game was changed to Mohill last Saturday and it proved a happy hunting ground with a win over Aughawillan the prize. We wish our scoring machine Keith Beirne a Happy 21st Birthday which the team we are sure celebrated following the game.

Lotto – No Jackpot winner with numbers called 11, 18, 24, 25. Lucky dip winners were €70 Niall Flynn Mohill, €40 Dylan and Eve Devlin Ardee, €20 Alan Farry, Mohill. Support the Mohill Lotto, online, Direct Debit, Yearly or at any business in the town.

Div 2 – On the first warm Sunday this year our second string travelled north to play Manorhamilton and won by a point. The final score was Mohill 4-13, Manorhamilton 2-18

Division 2 –  Annaduff were the visitors to Dromod on Saturday evening last, and a large crowd witnessed a close game full of the usual intensity associated with the local derby. It was the visitors who started the game in impressive fashion and after just 20 minutes, they led by 1-6 to 0-1 as the Bors appeared to be in difficulty in several sectors of the field. However, a strong rally approaching hhalf-timeensured the Bors registered the final three points of the half, to sit just five points in arrears at the interval. When sub Brian Conroy finished to the net 10 minutes into the second half, the gap was narrowed to a single point (1-6 to 1-5) and suddenly the game was in the melting pot. However but this was as close as the Bors managed to get and although it took an excellent save from Annaduff sub keeper Shane Cox to deny Damian Moran a late goal for the home side, it was the visitors who deservedly held on in an entertaining contest by 1-12 to 1-9. Next up for Bornacoola are Sean O Heslins who line out in Dromod on Sunday morning next at 12noon. Team and scorers were: Conor Hackett, Damian Mc Guinness, Jason Conroy, Brian Duffy, Mervyn Howard (0-1), David Mulligan, Liam Mulligan, Damian Moran (0-3), Alan Croghan (0-1), Cian Mallon, Sean Mc Keon (0-1), Danny Farrell, Ollie Vaughan, Gary Mc Closkey and Ronan Mulligan. Subs; Brian Conroy (1-1), Kevin Mulligan, Kevin Shanley and Colm Farrell.

Division 4 – Our Junior teams unbeaten run for 2018 came to an end on Sunday against Cloone. Trailing by 7 points to 4 at half time the Bors had a strong twenty minutes in the second half. With ten minutes to go we were trailing by just two points 0-10 to 0-8. Cloone then got a crucial goal and pushed on to add a further seven points in the final eight minutes leaving the final score Cloone1-17 Bornacoola 0-8.
Team and Scorers: Mark Mc Closkey, Liam Mulligan, Kevin Mulligan, Tony Shanley, Gearoid Mulligan, Robert O Beirne, Luke Jones, Colm Farrell, Michael Duignan (0-2), Roy Keenan (0-2), Daniel Farrell, Marc McKeon, John Shanley, Kevin Shanley (0-2), Jonathan Duffy (0-1), Cian Mallon and Ronan Mulligan (0-1)

Minors – Rinn Gaels completed their minor campaign when they travelled to Drumkeerin on Saturday morning last to play the Division 2 semi-final. In a game where the home side were deserving victors, the Gaels nonetheless passed up on a number of good chances that might have left the final score a little more reflective of a decent performance than the 5-8 to 2-4 results suggests. Team on duty was Jake Shields, James Doyle, Tom Reen, Brendan Davies, Ciaran Reen, Conor Niblock, James Cunningham, Oisín Niblock, Shane Reynolds, Odhrán Heslin, Mark Reynolds, Shane Mallon and Jamie Quinn. Subs were Ciaran Mc Glynn, Ryan Cunningham, Sean Og Hynes, Andrea Bacco, Sean O Riordan, Killian Mc Cauley and Ryan Lennon. The lads now have Championship to look forward to in July.

Ladies Football – The Bornacoola/St Mary’s Ladies played their third match of the 2018 League season on Sunday morning last as they hosted Aughawillan’s second team in Dromod. After a topsy-turvy encounter, they picked up their second victory but were left clinging on in the final few minutes as Aughawillan came with a late onslaught which threatened to derail their league ambitions.  Final score: Bornacoola/St Mary’s 2-13 Aughawillan 3-7. After a bright early opening the girls spurned a number of scoring chances but after settling in they managed to hold a four-point interval lead. A barnstorming third quarter saw the girls into a commanding position before the last quarter Aughawillan dominance aided by two goals which reduced the lead to a mere kick of the ball. The girls held out after a most enjoyable and competitive contest played in the first spring-like conditions of 2018. They are out again on Sunday morning next as they make the short journey to Annaduff to take on the home side at 11am with League Semi Final placings to be decided. On duty, on Sunday morning last were Caroline Guckian, Jasmine Maye, Cora McCauley, Emily Reynolds, Lorraine Guckian, Enya Guckian, Kasey Bruen, Alison McKeon, Aisling Leahy, Sara Crowe, Rachel McGarry, Hannah Reynolds, Lisa Guckian, Hannah Bird, Tanya Boyle and Ellen Woods.

Sympathy – The deepest sympathies of the Club are extended to the Mc Loughlin family, Cloncarne on the sudden passing of Ronan in England last week. Ar dheis lámh Dé go raibh sé.

U-13 League – Our U13 players had their last two league games with Gortletteragh this week.On a cold sunny Wednesday evening in Dromod, we played against a strong Kiltubrid outfit and were made to fight hard for a narrow victory in an excellent all round team display. We were unable to hit those heights on Thursday evening in Gortletteragh as St. Bridgids proved too strong for us despite a hard working performance from us. It is now on to the shield section of the league and we would like to wish our lads the best of luck in it. Panel of players used over both games David Doyle, Tommy Reen, Luke McManus, George Glaze, Nathan Ryan, Oisin Maguire, Jack Reynolds, Matthew Davis, Adam Reen, Riaghan Ward, Jack Gannon, Jonathan Duffy, Noah McNulty Senan Woods and Ryan Fanning.

Mothers and Others – Our Football for Mothers and Others got up and running again for 2018 recently – anyone interested in getting involved, should contact Cora Mc Cauley on 087 6104974

Swan Bar Div 3 – Our Junior team played Allen Gaels in the park Sunday and won by a point. They play Glencar/Manorhamilton  in  Carrigallen on Sunday
U13 – St Joseph’s U13s travelled to Manorhamilton on Sunday evening to take on Glencar Manor in a playoff to decide the last remaining place in the U13 league. Unfortunately for St Joseph’s we came up against a determined home team who took the spoils on a final score line of Glencar Manor 3-6 St Joseph’s 0-11. It was a case of so near yet so far for our lads who overcame a 6 point halftime deficit to draw level with 5 minutes to go but just couldn’t get their noses in front and the concession of a late goal turned the game decisively for the Manorhamilton lads. Well done to both teams and referee for providing a hard fought but sporting encounter given the conditions where the second half was played in a downpour. Best of luck to Glencar Manor in the semi final.

Dunnes Bar Division 2 – We played Carrigallen at home on Saturday evening and prevailed on a scoreline of 2-09 to 1-09 after a tough battle. For a second week we started slowly and trailed 0-04 to 0-01 after 12 minutes before a Ciaran Walsh penalty brought us level. Carrigallen had a penalty of their own on 19 minutes which was converted and left the half-time score 1-07 to 1-03 in favour of the visitors.  Carrigallen had the opening point after the break to open up a 5 point gap but on 37 minutes substitute Caleb Duffy crashed home a great goal to ignite a scoring burst and we hit a further 5 points in 10 minutes to a solitary reply from Carrigallen with Shane Beirne completing the scoring in injury time. Scorers were: Caleb Duffy 1-03; Ciaran Walsh 1-01; James Flynn 0-02; Martin Beirne 0-01; Shane Beirne 0-01; Diarmaid McKiernan 0-01.
