The lads are great supporters of Aughavas GAA and we wish them all the best on the night as this is a great honour and achievement.

U-16 Girls – The girls played the long-awaited U-16 Final against Glencar Manorhamilton on Saturday in Leitrim Village. Unfortunately, we could not overcome a very strong Manor team despite some very good performances from quite a few of the girls.

Allen Gaels got off to the perfect start when Caoimhe McGarry burst through the Manor defence and found the net after just 30 seconds. Olwyn Moore put another past the Manorhamilton keeper a few minutes later to put us into an early lead.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t push on and add to this lead. Manor kept the scoreboard ticking over and started to take control of the game before the end of the first half. Just before the end of the first half Muireann Devaney found the net and stretched the lead to 5 points at the interval 1-10 to 2-02. Manor started the second half the way they ended the first and never looked back. Allen Gaels could never get to terms with the Manor forward line, in particular, Muireann Devaney and Leah Fox who were both excellent. The final score was 2-16 to 2-04. All the girls played their hearts out and in particular the midfield partnership of Caoimhe McGarry and Roisin McGrenaghan who gave a powerful display, Caoimhe being our stand out player on the day. Olwyn Moore, Jaclyna Ozdobinska, Maria McGrenaghan and Lauryn McKeon all had very good performances also. Well done to the team on their efforts all year and a special thank you to Cara McTigue, Sinead Dolan & Eamonn McGowan for their work with the girls.

25 Card Drive – Allen Gaels 25 Card Game continues every  Sunday evening in Aras Phadraig at 8:30pm. Refreshments served. All welcome.

The 5 prize winners of €20 each were: Kaila Lee Smith, Drumkeeran; Anna McGovern, Kilnagross; Elizabeth Smith, Tarmon; Pius Earley, Mount Allen and Nuala Maguire, Ballinaglera. The jackpot now stands at €2,200. Also a reminder that annual lotto tickets are available from any club officers for €85 for the year.

Best Wishes – The club wishes to extend its best wishes to club player, Shona Sheridan, for a speedy recovery following her recent injury.  Shona, unfortunately, missed the U16 County Final last Saturday but we hope to see her back in the blue and yellow in the near future.

4 in a row for U16 Girls – Congratulations to our U16 girls’ team and management of Marie Keaney and Neil Faulkner who retained the U16 County Title after a comprehensive victory over St Francis on Saturday last on a score-line of 2-16 to 2-4.  In front of an excellent crowd, the Manor girls took to the Leitrim Village field in a determined fashion and led at halftime by 1-10 to 2-2.  Despite the score-line, the game was a tight contest and the girls were eventual winners on a score-line of 2-16 to 2-4 after a well-contested game where a great all round team performance won the day for the Manor side. Team captain Alva Sheridan lifted the Kalie Gill Memorial Cup for the “4 in a Row” on behalf of her teammates.

Minor Girls Connacht Final – All roads lead to St Croan’s, Ballintubber, Co Roscommon this Saturday, 9th December,  for the Minor Ladies Connacht Final. Corofin are the opposition having defeated Eastern Harps comprehensively in the other semi-final. In what promises to be an intriguing battle the ladies are well prepared by Neil Faulkner and Marie Keaney and are hoping to capture the Connacht title for the first time in the Club’s history. The game kicks off at 2pm and we ask everyone to Please Support the Ladies if at all possible.

Leitrim Young Sports Star – We extend congratulations to Muireann Devaney who was selected as the winner of the Young Sports Star Award at the recent Leitrim Sports Partnership Awards. Muireann was also honoured as a member of the Leitrim U14 Ladies team who won the All Ireland B title in the Juvenile Team of the Year category and it was a further honour for the club that Mairead Clancy was also a member of that winning side. On Sunday last they played St Brigid’s and it was another cracker of a game with good clean physical football played by both teams. St Brigids were minus their two County stars and Mohill played without Liam Rowley. Our scorers were, Keith Beirne 0-8, Fiacra McGuinness 2-2, Ronan Gordon 0-1, Oisín Madden 0-1, Ethan Harkin 0-1, Keith Keegan 0-1, Jordan Reynolds 0-1, OG.

PJ Carroll RIP – Former publican PJ Carroll who was laid to rest in Mohill last week. His boys Peter, Seamus, Cathal, Fergus, Cyril and Jarlath have all donned the green jersey of Mohill and continue to support us in all our fundraising from the US. Liam Rowley – Congratulations to Liam Rowley who played in the Universities League All Ireland final where his college RCSI beat DCU, a first for the college in serious competition. Unfortunately, Liam got injured towards the end of the game and St Manchan’s were without his services on Sunday last
