The game was fast paced with tenacious defensive work and hard-working forward play on show.  The tight encounter saw the sides level after normal time and send the game to extra time with the Manor girls claiming their spot in the final on a scoreline of 5-14 to 5-12.  They will play the reigning champions St Joseph’s in the final.  We wish the team all the very best in their preparations.

Annual Club Camp – Our Fox Monumentals & MacManus Pharmacies sponsored Annual Glencar Manor Club Camp took place last week with record numbers in attendance.  We were all in awe of the wonderful children who were a joy to coach over the 3 days.  We thank the parents for entrusting their children in our care, our 30 plus club volunteer coaches for giving freely of their talent and expertise under the watchful eye of our brilliant club co-ordinator James Glancy, Sheila McMorrow, Dominic Kelly and Kevin McManus for expertly organising the event, our volunteer helpers and caterers for keeping the coaches fed and watered over the 3 days and finally Kieran Fox (Fox Monumentals) and John MacManus (MacManus Pharmacies) for jointly sponsoring the camp which is an investment in the future players for Glencar Manor and the GAA clubs in North Leitrim.  Each child received a small gift to mark their attendance and they were all delighted to get their Glencar Manor bobble hat which we are sure they will wear with pride while playing or supporting our club.  We do hope all the children enjoyed the camp and we look forward to welcoming them back again next year.

INTERMEDIATE LADIES – Bornacoola/St Mary’s played their third championship match on Saturday morning last against the competition favourites St Francis in Ballinamore and despite putting it up to the Allen Gaels/Ballinaglera combination for the hour, the girls were defeated on a 0-14 to 1-4 score line. They got off to a great start with Aisling Leahy finding the net in the early exchanges as she latched onto a ball over the top and it was very much an evenly matched contest for the remainder of the half with the score at the changeover 0-7 to 1-3. However, the greater physical strength of the winners was telling in the second period as they wore down our girls to run out worthy winners, having added seven points to their tally to a single reply. Next up for the ladies is the final round of the round robin on September 1st when they face Mohill.  On duty on Saturday last were: Kathy Butler, Cora McCauley, Jasmine Maye, Joanne McGushin, Hannah Reynolds, Lorraine Guckian, Emily Reynolds, Alison McKeon, Kasey Bruen, Sara Crowe, Aisling Leahy (1-4), Lauren Hackett, Sarah Reynolds, Kelly Howard, Lisa Guckian, Ellen Woods, Rachel McGarry, Isabelle Chandler and Hannah Bird.

Fenagh St Caillins Annual Cycle – the clubs annual cycle took place on Saturday last. Their route took them via Aghacashel to Drumshanbo, on to Balinaglera where they had refreshments in Skerrie Rynns, next into Dowra, across to Drumkeeran down to Leitrim Village and back home via Keshcarrigan, a trip of 100km. From before the group of cyclists left until after their return the crew back in Fenagh Village kept the wheels turning on the ‘stationary’ bike and the support team on the road all worked hard to make the fundraising effort a great sucess.
