Oughteragh Gaels – Well done to the Oughteragh Gaels team that put in a fantastic effort against Aughawillan in the relegation decider. The ladies secured their place in the top flight with a fantastic  3.12 to  1.09 victory. It was a  Hard fought game in poor conditions but the girls dug deep to remain playing senior football for 2019. Well done to all the players and mentors on a great victory

Festival – Well done to the Ballinamore festival committee on pulling off another wonderful festival for the town. The hard work and dedication of this small committee means so much to all the people of Ballinamore and the many visitors that make the annual pilgrimage to take part in the many events on show. Thanks to you all

Festival Blitz – A fantastic day in the pairc on Saturday for our annual Ballinamore Family Festival blitz. We had 13 teams in total from Fenagh, Dernacreive, Aughnasheelin Gaa, Kiltubrid, Leitrim Gaels, Garadice Gaels and Ballinamore with players from nursery right up to u11 playing . It was fantastic to see so many players togged out and was a great opportunity for some of our visiting kids to play for their ancestral teams. Special thanks to Fresh Today for sponsoring the fruit and water, the festival for supplying the ice cream, our own club for the crisps and drinks and last but certainly not least our local Garda for supplying and presenting nearly 200 medals to all of the participants. Thanks also to all the mentors, parents, helpers and referees for making it a fantastic success- role on next year !!!

A special word of thanks to everyone that took part in the GAA skills events that took place during the festival. It was great to see so many children taking part each evening in St Felims, special thanks to everyone that took part and assisted in making this a great success

U17 – Well done to our u17 lads who had an excellent victory against a Leitrim Gaels on Monday evening. The lads win by a score of 2:15 to 1:14

U13 – Well done also to our u13 team who had a great victory on Thursday evening when they defeated Drumkeeran by a score of 2:14 to 3:05

All Ireland Community Games – There were 5 fabulous kids representing Leitrim in the All Ireland Community games Finals at the University of Limerick at the weekend, Mark Ahern, Sinead Martin Thianna Regan, Aisling Maguire and Lucy Murphy. The kids were fantastic and put in an exceptional performance on the day and were worthy representatives for Leitrim. Well done to them all

Senior Championship Our Senior Championship campaign continued on Saturday last when we faced Glencar/Manorhamilton in Ballinamore. The Bors played some good football in the opening period but went in at half time 1-10 to 0-7 in arrears. As the second half progressed however, Manor began to exert their dominance and ran out comfortable 2-22 to 0-10 victors at full time. No game this weekend as the action switches to the Junior B Championship

 

Fun & Sports Day 2018 This Sunday our annual fun and sports day takes place on at our club grounds in Dromod. Over the years it has become one of the best days of fun and social interaction in the calendar. Once again this year, the 6k run/walk gets proceedings underway at 12 noon and will be followed by mass at 1pm and sports  activities will including underage games, fun races, tug of war, face painting and much more. The All Ireland Hurling Final will be shown on the large TV in the clubhouse and we will also have the outdoor BBQ and music so a great days fun and activities are promised for all the people in the parish of all ages and we look forward to seeing you all there.

 

Minor Championship Rinn Gaels played their final round robin game in the Minor Championship in Dromod against Mohill last week and yet another positive performance in a close game delivered another victory on a 5-5 to 3-9 scoreline. They are now guaranteed a home semi-final – fixture details to follow.

 

Junior B Championship The Junior B Football Championship gets underway on Saturday evening next for Bornacoola as we face Dromahair in Drumshanbo at 7pm. After a good league this year, the Juniors will be hopeful of making further progress in this competition.

 

U12 Ladies Well done to our under 12 girls who qualified for the Shield final in Dromod this evening against a very gallant Carrick team. The girls started the game very strong and held a commanding half time lead. But credit to Carrick they fought back in the second half and it took some excellent defending from our girls to ward off the comeback and come away with a well-deserved victory. They can now look forward to the final in the coming weeks. Well done girls!

Spin the Wheel We launched our “Spin the Wheel” Fundraising event at the Club Draw on Saturday last. It will take place on Sunday night October 28th in The Copper Still; tickets will be on sale shortly and four lucky people will have the chance to Spin the Wheel for the top prize of €1000. One person will be selected at each of the next 3 Club Draws and the 4th person will come from those present on the night. It should be a great night’s entertainment. Sponsorship segments on the big wheel are available at €50 each and the final spin on the night will be for our sponsors only, with the lucky winner receiving a prize of  €500. Senior Championship – The lads got off the mark in the Connacht Gold SFC with a win over neighbours Mohill in Cloone on Saturday evening. There is a break in the Championship before we face Dromahair in the next round.

Junior Championship – The Junior Team came up short against a well organised Glenfarne Kilty team in the second round of the championship on Sunday.

All Ireland Ticket Draw – It will be Tyrone vs The Dubs on All Ireland Final Day and we are giving you the chance to be there to witness the event. Tickets for our All Ireland Draw are now on sale from all players and club officials with the top prize being 2 x Tickets for this year’s All Ireland Football. Other prizes include 2 nights B&B in Lough Rynn Castle Hotel and a cash prize. Tickets are €5 each or three for €10. All support for the draw is hugely appreciated and if your not in you can’t win.

Trip to Croke Park – Some of our underage section headed to GAA HQ to take in the Tyrone vs Dublin Semi Final. A good day was had by all and thanks to everyone involved in organising the trip.

Newtowngore Engineering U17 Championship – The Rinn Gaels U17 lads are in the Minor B Championship Semi Final, with their opponents yet to be determined. Keep an eye on paper and facebook for news of this fixture.

Weekend Fixtures – This weekend the Juniors finish out their Group stage with a game against Carrigallen. Throw in is 7.00 in Cloone on Saturday evening. All support for the lads appreciated.

Annaduff Family Fun Day 2018 – The 5th Annual Annaduff Family Fun Day took place on Sunday last the 12th of August. This year’s Charity Partner is Pieta House. A massive thanks to the hard working committee who as always make the day the success it is. Thank you to all who supported on the day, to the Coaches and all who helped out. To the other neighbouring Clubs that brought their younger players. A special thank you to following: Gerard Creegan for his help, sorting the farm equipment, D&E McHugh for supplying the farm equipment, Brian Beirne, Thomas Crowe, Alma Jordan of Agrikids for her child presentation and last but not least Peter Gohery, for his demonstration. Newtown Engineering Under 17s Championship – Well done to our U17s who overcame Dromahair on Tuesday last. Full time score Annaduff 3-20 to Dromahair 2-14. The lads will now play for a spot in the Final. 

Barna Recycling Under 13s Championship – Annaduff Under 13’s won their D1 Championship game on Thursday last to St. Josephs on a scoreline of Annaduff 4-10 to St. Josephs 1-06 The lads still remain top of the group.

COMMUNITY GAMES – Best wishes to all members of the club who travel to Limerick this weekend to compete in the track and field All Ireland Community Games.

LEAVING CERT RESULTS – Wishing all Leaving Cert Students especially all involved in St. Mary’s the very best on Wednesday and in the future.

 U12 GIRLS – After the success of our girls in the Division 1 final on Bank holiday Monday our 11 aside team were in action on Thursday evening last in the B Shield Semi Final against Bornacoola in Bornacoola.   This was a game of two halves with Bornacoola dominating the first half and St. Mary’s dominating the second half narrowing a big lead to lose the game by just four points. While the management of the U12 teams were absolutely delighted to retain the 15 aside championship the highlight of the year for them was the fact that each week they were able to field two teams with the 11 aside team winning three games and getting to a shield semi-final while all the time playing against 1st teams. This meant that week in week out St. Mary’s had 36 U12 girls playing competitive football.

 SUMMER CAMP – We held our annual club summer football camp from Wednesday to Friday last and had approximately 115 children from ages 5 to 13 attend.  Thanks to all the coaches who volunteered ensuring that everyone who attended had a fantastic time while learning from great coaches.  Thanks to Daly Sports sorted us out with St. Mary’s socks and shorts at such short notice and most importantly that to everyone who attended the camp and making it a success once again.

Connacht Gold Senior Championship – Another tough result as we go down to Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s in Round 3 by 4-11 to 0-08 in a rainy Pairc Sean on Saturday evening. No fixture next weekend.
Barna Recycling U13 Championship – Both of our U13 teams are in action on Thursday 16th against Leitrim Gaels in Leitrim Village with the first game at 7pm and the second game at 8.15pm.

Senior Championship – Gortletteragh were worthy winners in this championship clash on Saturday last in Cloone. The next outing is against Drumreilly in two weeks time.

Intermediate and Junior Championship – Not a good week for any of our adult teams as Inters and Juniors were well beaten in their respective Championship games over the weekend. The Juniors are in action on Saturday next in Cloone with Kiltubrid the opposition.

Under 13 – These young men took the long journey to Dromahaire on Thursday last and had a good win over Dromahaire. The panel and scorers was, Aaron McCrann, Michael Tiernan, Adam McGuinness, Aidan Mulligan, Liam Flynn 1-0, Cathal Donoghue, Tomás Mayock, Keith McCaffrey, Matthew Murphy 1-7, E Kilrane 0-1, Harry Boyle 3-0, Senan Curran 1-2, Colin McNamra 0-1, Blaine McCrann, Patrick Coka 1-0, Ondrej Coka, Jack McCrann. Next Thursday they play Manor in Pairc Philib. The reserve team have reached the final of their division.

Forthcoming Wedding – Best wishes to our best supporter Bridget Lupton sister of Barry who will wed John McKenna on Saturday next in Drumlish. Bridget made sure her wedding would not coincide with any Championship matches. That’s what you call a true supporter.

Under 17 – The Under 17s will contest the Shield final at a date to be arranged.

Under 6 – Well done to Claire Quinn who brought her Under 6s to Annaduff, resplendent in their new gear sponsored by Eeiverslane. It all starts with Claire at Under 6.

U13’s – St Josephs U13s travelled to Annaduff on Thursday evening to take on the home team in the latest round of the U13 championship. The first half was a closely fought contest with St Josephs in front for the majority but the concession of two goals just before half time meant the sides went in at half time on a scoreline of Annaduff 2-03 St Josephs 1-5. That was as good as it got got our lads as they didnt turn up at all for the second half as Annaduff took over and ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of Annaduff 4-09 St Josephs 1-06. Well done to Annaduff and hopefully we will see an improved performance from St Josephs in the next fixture.
U17’s – Well done to St. Joseph’s U17’s who had a good win over Fenagh in the championship played in Carrigallen last Monday evening.

We wish Fenagh St. Caillins player, Shane Smith, a speedy recovery after a bad ankle injury sustained during the game.

Senior Championship  –  We played St Marys in Drumshanbo on a wet  Saturday eve  which left the pitch slippy – St Marys were first on the score board this game was nip and tuck for the first half with scores from Gavin ammon 2 pts Fintan Fitzpatrick and Damian Gilheaney with a point each – it was 5 pts to 4 at the break in favour of St Marys – Connor Cullen replaced Paddy McManus at the break – the sides were level with a point from Ciaran Cullen in the first few minutes of the second half  we followed up with points from Barry McWeeney and Ciaran Cullen – we didn’t get the lucky breaks and St Marys ran out winners on a score line of of 1 11 to 7 points. We wish a  speedy recovery to full health to Cormac Sammon who suffered an unfortunate injury.

 Junior A Championship – Unfortunately due to a combination of factors we were short a lot of players & we were unable to field against Melvin Gaels in Ballinamore on Sunday following the senior game. Our apologies to Melvin Gaels for the short notice.

U-17’s – The U-17’s were defeated by St. Marys at home last Tuesday and Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins away this week. Best of luck to all concerned.

U-13’s – The lads lost out to Gortletteragh & Kiltubrid last week and play St. Brigids & Sean O’Heslins this week. Best of luck to the team & management.

Trip to Croke Park – Well done to the club’s juvenile committee who organised a trip to the All Ireland Semi Final on Sunday and a great time was had by all.
